HEAD OF DATA SCIENCE AND DATA STRATEGY - REMOTE WORKING NEWCASTLE, CURRENTLY - FLEXIBLE/ REMOTE/ HOME WORKING £70,000 BENEFITS BONUS Are you interested in building a data science team for a leading specialist provider to the global bio-pharmaceutical industry? Do you have previous experience leading a team and having huge input into the different types of data science projects that can give greater business insights and optimise revenue generation? This is the perfect opportunity for a dynamic and highly motivated Data Scientist. THE COMPANY: The company, based in Newcastle, has several hundred employees and specialises in manufacturing pharmaceutical products. As a Head of Data Science, you will be working on building out the data science function - including setting out the team - to build machine learning models around business needs. THE ROLE: The role of Head of Data Science will involve leadership, hands-on data science and data strategy. You will need to have strong technical skills and previous leadership/ mentoring experience. Specifically, you can expect to be involved in the following: You will be using advanced analytics and data science to solve business problems around revenue generation, client churn, HR analytics, manufacturing, predict maintenance and more. You will be building out the strategy and focus on setting the road map of how data science can benefit the business. You will be communicating complicated concepts, with the aid of data visualisation and storytelling, to less technically minded colleagues. You will be growing and leading a team of data scientists. YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: The successful Head of Data Science will have the following skills and experience: Educated to Master's level in a STEM degree focused on quantitative methods and statistics (Maths, Statistics, Computer Science, Physics, Economics and related fields) Proficiency in programming languages, statistical analysis tools and different data storage systems - Fluency in python is essential Proven commercial experience working in a hands-on data science position Proven experience leading a team of data scientists Experience building up the data science function in a business is desirable THE BENEFITS: The successful Head of Data Science will receive a salary, dependent on experience of up to £70,000 and benefits.
