Overview

Reed Social care are looking for a Supported Living Manager to work in a supported living service who are specialists for 4 adults with autism and mental health. The property consists of 5 one bedroom flats with a large garden and a sensory hub which users can use for sensory activities. Our client is a specialist charity with Registered Social Landlord status, providing housing, care and support for people with learning disabilities through their 300 staff. Their missing is to work with individuals with learning disabilities to improve the quality of their lives. Their focus is on individualised, long-term housing and life opportunities for people with even the most complex and challenging needs, including Alzheimer’s and Autism. Many have physical disabilities, sensory impairment, communication and behaviours that challenge. The team consists of the manager, 2 deputy managers and 19 support workers who uniquely provide a range of home and community based activities for they support. Salary: up to £32,000 plus £2k market allowance Hours: Rota basis including weekends, sleep-ins and nights. You will be working an average of 38 hours a week. Duties: • To be responsible for the delivery of a quality supported living service to service users and to regularly review the standards in relation to the care and support provided in order to maintain and enhance the quality of the service, which is in line with Yarrow’s policies & procedures • To lead a staff team in providing a supportive home environment for service users which enables them to live in the community and to lead full active and as independent lives as possible • Ensuring communication methods used are personalised to each service user’s needs and abilities, and these are in a form which can facilitate understanding by service users, for example pictorial and easy to read information, Makaton, and the use of life stories and social diaries, where applicable. • Ensuring that all service users have a valued and appropriate daily activity plan which reflect their individual needs and which provides service users with structure that they can follow easily. • Participating in the day to day running of the house including helping and supporting service users in their daily living tasks and with their intimate personal care. • Ensuring the safe storage and administration of medication and that staff receive regular training and work based competency tests in medication administration. • To contribute to the development of a quality service by for example taking responsibility for project work and participating in working groups • To ensure the smooth running of the services by maintaining a comprehensive system of administration, financial control and record keeping and ensuring good housing keeping practice. • Planning the staff rota to ensure that 24 hour care is provided to service users. • Supporting and supervising staff in organising and maintaining the keyworker system and in the day to day running of the house. Experience: • Experience of working with adults in community settings • At least 3 years’ experience working with people with learning disabilities • At least 1 years’ experience of working with people with autism • At least 2 years’ experience of managing staff Qualifications: NVQ Level 4 or 5 is desirable If you or anyone you know is interested in this role, please send me a copy of your updated CV.
