Lead Electro-Mechanical Design Engineer - Cambridge - Permanent - £65,000 DOE and Company Bonus Due to an exciting period of growth we are currently seeking Lead Hardware Engineer. You will be working for a well-established life science company in the research and discovery. You will be assisting the development of new Organics-on-Chips instruments and consumables for the life science and laboratory market. The role might require travelling occasionally on business trips. Responsibilities Single point of whole life-cycle responsibility for delivery of all hardware designs - instruments and consumables, mechanical and electronic. Responsible for concept development, prototyping, production design, transfer to production, support when in production Responsible for designs of products, tools and processes required to support them, eg injection mould tooling, production test rigs Responsible for conducting type approval testing Responsible for hardware design processes and supporting infrastructure/tools Essentials You must be able to demonstrate track record of providing sustained senior level technical leadership for development of complex electromechanical systems 3D modelling using SolidWorks; Tooling design for injection moulding Mechanical Prototyping using variety of techniques. Simulation & Modelling (including Stress Analysis, Mould Flow Analysis) Tolerance Analysis & Reliability testing Presentation / Documentation Skills - Able to engage individuals and small groups using verbal, written and audio-visual material. Collaboration - Good interpersonal skills engaging with engineering, design, manufacturing, quality, bioengineering and biological teams.
