Overview
Here at Cordant People we have a great opportunity for someone to join a client of ours based in Caldicot as a Construction buyer. To be considered for this role you would need at least 5 years experience to be considered. You would need to have experience covering a vast range of materials. Your main job roles will be: Procure materials for sites and yard. Ensure that suppliers are accredited, approved and to standard. Scheduling of materials in accordance with the program and liaise with Commercial team. Establish Supply chain agreements. Undertake review of existing supply chain. Ensure deliveries are met and any changes communicated effectively. Analyse supplier tender returns and ensure all materials and services are bought for a competitive price with overall value assessed. Build and maintain supplier relationships to negotiate and obtain best value. Have a proactive approach to understand works being carried out on site. Communicate any difficulties or changes to Managers or Directors. Liaise with Contracts Managers and Commercial team. Assist in forecast of material costs with the Commercial team. Communicate where necessary with Site personnel. You must have: Must have excellent skills in excel. Good organisational skills and ability to multi-task. Ability to think on "one's feet". Good general knowledge of the Construction Industry. Strong commercial awareness.
