Highways / Materials Testing - Team Lead
Overview
An opportunity has arisen at TRL for a manager with experience in transport infrastructure surveys and/or highways materials laboratory testing. Your main duties will include overseeing the day to day running of the Field Services and laboratory teams, contractor and consultancy liaison, managing national works programmes for both the public and private sectors and acting as the lead contact for transport infrastructure surveys and laboratory testing. The role is based from our headquarters in Wokingham, Berkshire and may require occasional ( Key Duties / Responsibilities Provide effective technical and operational leadership of all survey and materials testing services Manage equipment and facilities to agreed budget and standard to enable work to be delivered, ensuring suitable accreditation and calibration are in place Provide resource and project management for Services to ensure that all work is delivered to technical quality, budget and time Before mobilisation ensure that contracts are in place for all works, terms are reviewed and acceptable, the project has been converted and that the team are suitably briefed Ensure that all work is invoiced at the earliest opportunity and support Credit Control as and when issues arise Provide effective line management of direct and indirect reports including regular 1-2-1s and team meetings Skills & Experience A sound understanding of two or more of the following: asset management principles and practice; asset data collection; air quality; field services contracts; civil construction. Previous experience of Infrastructure condition data acquisition, as well as the ability to plan and market site and material testing activities. A proven track record in leading / management of provision of service contracts to specified performance levels, to a broad range of customers Knowledge of Highways standards in the UK, Europe and Internationally A formal Health and safety qualification is required; SMSTS or similar.
