The organisation relies heavily on its technology platforms, as do the citizens and vulnerable groups who benefit from the outcomes. However, there is a significant opportunity to drive the next stage of technology advancement in this area. We are delighted to be partnering exclusively with DBS to recruit a key role within their IT leadership team; with a new five-year strategy about to launch and new strategic partners in place, this is undoubtedly an exciting time for DBS technology teams and the wider business as they look to develop and modernise their services. Description As a Head of Technology/Associate Director of Digital, Data and Technology your role will entail: Deputy Chief Information & Digital Officer Deputise for the CIDO as and when required Support the CIDO in the delivery of their duties as and when required Digital Deliver services that meet the Digital by Default Service Standard and are best in class for the Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) giving the same level of digital experience users expect from daily interaction with the most external public facing sites Be responsible for on and offline continuous service delivery, developing and delivering all the changes and improvements necessary to provide effective services for users Be responsible for the continuous iteration and improvement of the service through a variety of appropriate KPIs & measures and user research Represent your service to senior stakeholders, using information from diverse user, commercial and service sources to create and project a compelling product vision Engage with technical staff and suppliers to define the optimum system and platform configurations to achieve business/user objectives Lead and develop a high performing team, embedding agile working practices and a digital by default culture across the DBS and the wider civil service Data Develop a Departmental Data Strategy that fully supports the citizens DBS serves and enables DBS to run as an effective business Work with members of DBS Information Directorate, the wider business and stakeholders outside of DBS to ensure that the data strategy is implemented in a manner that achieves full benefits realisation Play a leading role in the identification of key projects to create strategic value from DBS's data, for example through improved customer segmentation or customer journey modelling Manage the identification and research of appropriate new models and technologies that will enable DBS to continually iterate and improve how it applies the Data Strategy Technology Lead the transformation of existing DBS technical capability into an 'Intelligent Client' function, developing a strong internal technical leadership capability which supports the strategic direction of technology disaggregation Demonstrate exceptional stakeholder management at all levels of the organisation, including senior stakeholder/board presentations Ensure governance and compliance processes are adhered to and optimised for technology delivery Strong leadership and budget (up to £5mil) responsibility is required to continue to develop the team The successful candidate will have a proven leadership track record of IT professionals and external service providers The role encompasses both the internal support operation within the DBS and the provision of highly-available, high-performance technology services to our customer base Profile Essential Criteria Demonstrable track record of leading technology professionals and external service providers to deliver digital, data and technology services Agile Practitioner certification or equivalent experience Working knowledge of an Enterprise Architecture framework Experience of working within a DevOps environment Experience of working in a complex multi supplier environment Experience of operating within an Agile delivery environment Experience of user centric design Financial management responsibility (up to £5m) Supplier management Behaviours Seeing the bigger picture Changing and Improving Leadership Communicating and influencing Managing a quality service Job Offer Salary: £60,904 - £72,638 Benefits: A list of public services benefits can be sent over on request.
