Occupational Health Nurse Advisor OHU Grade F (£31,875 - £37,440) + 8% market supplement Headquarters Closing Date: Friday 19th June 2020 Overview Merseyside Police is a modern force with traditional values and serves a population of 1.5 million people. Due to growth and operation uplift we are currently seeking a talented individual to work within our Occupational Health Unit. This is a fantastic opportunity for an Occupational Health Nurse Advisor looking to take the next step in their career. To provide a professional proactive and comprehensive Occupational Health Service to management and staff on all matters relating to the health, safety and wellbeing of members of the Force, ensuring compliance with relevant legislative requirements and Force Policy Key Responsibilities * Undertake health screening procedures for prospective and existing employees * Provide advice, guidance and counselling on issues relating to occupational health and attendance management to managers, employees and their representatives in line with business requirements. * Assist in the planning, preparation and delivery of Health Promotion/Health Education activities related to improving health in the work place and promoting work life balance. * Arrange counselling and referrals where appropriate, undertake case conferences, case reviews for employees in order to assist an early return to work. * Assist in reviewing, through the process of continuous improvement, Occupational Health service delivery Knowledge & Experience * It is essential that the post holder is a Registered General Nurse and has achieved a qualification in Occupational Health or is studying for Diploma/Degree in Occupational Health * Minimum 2 years' experience working within Occupational Health * self-motivation, sensitivity and a pragmatic problem solving approach supported by a wide range of professional skills and inter personal qualities * Excellent communication skills and experience in preparing/delivering presentations * Must be able to work as a self-supervising Occupational Health specialist taking initiative when necessary to achieve this general aim Benefits In return for your commitment, you will receive: * Competitive salary * 32 days holiday including bank holidays (pro rata) " increasing with length of service * Local Government Pension Scheme * Family friendly policies * Continuous professional development Due to COVID 19 the format and timing of the interview is still to be confirmed Police Officers who have given notice that they are retiring within the next six month period can apply for Police Staff vacancies that are advertised externally.
