Overview

Our client has a part time vacancy for a Legal Cashier to assist and support the Financial Controller in the day to day running of the accounts department and ensuring that accurate financial records are kept that tracks the company’s expenditures, profit and loss, cash flow, and other financial activities in accordance with the SRA’s (Solicitors Regulation Authority) Accounts Rules. The Job ? Assist with preparation and effecting of Month and Year End procedures. ? Purchase Ledger - checking all supplier invoices and paying all accounts. ? Assist with transfer of client money to office accounts and visa versa. ? Payment of disbursements. ? Banking. ? Credit Control. ? Raising of cheques for client and office expenditure. ? Billing for private clients. ? Assisting with management of Petty Cash float. ? Liaising with company’s auditors. ? Securely store financial records. ? General office admin i.e. filing, post etc. ? Deal professionally with general enquiries from clients, solicitors, and other third parties, in person, by e-mail and by telephone. ? Communicate and liaise with other staff within the practice, both on the telephone and in person. ? Be responsible for ensuring personal communications are kept updated, e.g. Email, voicemail etc ensuring emails/faxes/telephone messages for others in the practice are dealt with in their absence. The Person ? Accurate numeracy skills. ? Knowledge of SRA’s Accounts Rules (essential). ? Ability to reconcile accounts accurately and efficiently. ? Proficient reporting skills. ? Communications skills: must be confident in communicating with internal and external contacts and relate to people at all levels both in person and remotely via telephone, emails etc. ? Core Administration skills. ? Inter-personal skills. ? A spirit of co-operation and a positive and proactive "can do" attitude. ? IT Skills: Confident in the use of all Microsoft office packages. ? Ability to effectively prioritise, excellent organisation and administrative ability. ? Experience of working within a law practice or in a professional services environment. ? Has had previous experience of electronic accounts system and time recording for a team. ? Has experience of a case/document management system. ? AAT qualification.
