Job Description
We are looking for a Legal Associate to join our Viva Wallet team, in UK, Milton Keynes! The successful candidate will be responsible for undertaking the responsibility of proactively handling a broad range of legal matters and driving compliance efforts associated with our company's European payment services business expansion. More specifically, as a Legal Associate you will: * Be responsible for the provision of legal support and advice to the group's divisions mainly in the wider area of corporate and commercial law (e.g. company's law, consumer law, banking and finance) as well as with respect to operational and compliance issues (e.g. AML, Payments, rules imposed by the local & European regulatory authorities- EBA, EPC -etc , the Payment Systems, the International Organizations-card schemes- etc); * Prepare and review of legal and corporate documentation (including agreements and contracts of a wide range of commercial law subject matters, decisions of the companies' constitutional bodies etc); * Liaise with external lawyers and regulatory/supervising authorities across the European Economic Area; * Structure and handle litigation cases; * Organize and coordinate the Legal & Compliance department files, cases and issues; keep up with deadlines; documenting actions and generating status reports; Requirements To be considered you should have: * Bachelor's degree in Law and an LL.M with a specialization in commercial law areas (preferably in Banking, Finance & Corporate Law); * At least 5 years' working experience as a lawyer in the Banking sector or alternatively in a law firm specialized accordingly in projects related to the banking industry (previous experience in the UK banking, payments or Fintech sector and/or participation in European legal projects is considered a strong plus); * Demonstrable experience in commercial law, company law and banking, especially in regulatory & corporate governance related issues; * Experience in dealing with complex legal & regulatory compliance issues with significant financial impact; * Excellent organizational skills; ability to manage multiple projects and conflicting demands; * The ability to build relationships with co-workers and business partners; * The ability to work well both independently and in a team environment including with senior management; * The ability to work comfortably in an intense, fast-paced environment and successfully manage and meet deadlines within a dynamic environment; * Fluency in English and French/German/Dutch; Benefits We are offering an attractive competitive salary and the opportunity for a rapid career development, working closely with a highly motivated team in a dynamic and fast- paced environment.
