Overview
Are you a Technical Engineering Manager with a strong background in complex system product design? Have you lead and managed cross functional teams? Typically mechanical design, electronics, software, reliability engineering and physicists – optics, lasers etc Do you want the opportunity to push technical boundaries and develop new products while also supporting and implementing business systems and driving an engineering team? Your Background: Technical Engineering Manager: · This role requires an engineering manager or technical engineering manager with a strong background in complex, electromechanical / optomechanical product design and development – fibre optics, lasers, scientific instruments, medical devices, satellites or other high reliability systems (aerospace, automotive, nuclear, marine etc) · You will have a high-level academic background, ideally PhD but MSc or MEng considered – Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Electronics · Proven experience in leading, growing and managing cross functional engineering teams; appraisals, training and development, recruitment etc · Solid and broad engineering systems knowledge – mechanical, electronics, software, reliability, with the ability to bring the key disciplines together, challenge technical thinking and deliver a full product from concept to production · You should have good knowledge of DFM, DFA, 8D problem solving, 6 sigma methods and the development of reliable and repeatable products · Good commercial understanding to run and manage engineering budgets, CAPEX projects and support Product Managers with new client enquiries · Enthusiastic and driven engineering manager who thrives in a fast paced but supportive culture that can challenge the status quo and bring in new ideas Role: Technical Engineering Manager: · The technical engineering manager is responsible for leading, developing and challenging an experienced, cross functional team incorporating mechanical design engineers, electronics and software and laser/optical physicists · You will sit alongside the site management, Project and Product management teams to deliver technically driven products from concept design into production · You will support sales with new customer projects, liaise with customers, run 8D projects, support engineers on technical product issues and implement or build upon processes and systems within the business The company offers an uncapped bonus, relocation support, private health, flexible working hours and fantastic opportunities to progress and develop your career.
