An exciting challenge has come to the Therapy Team here at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust (UHS). We are looking for an enthusiastic Therapy Technical Instructor to join our Early Mobilisation Project (EMP). This innovative team is an extension of the successful Intensive Care EMP team, which is helping transform and enhance the rehabilitation pathway of patients who are recovering from critical illness. ABOUT THE TEAM We are a large Foundation Trust and teaching hospital with many excellent regional centres, with a focus on improving patient services. The integrated Therapy Services Dept is a lively, friendly and dynamic department, which has over 280 staff, both qualified and unqualified. University Hospital Southampton NHS Trust is a large teaching hospital and we strive to deliver a seamless service to its users, whilst actively promoting continuing professional development within the Therapy department. There are also many varied opportunities to participate in training and we will ensure that you complete your competency training to equip you with the competence and confidence within this post. WHAT YOU'LL DO You will be responsible for managing your own caseload and seeing patients throughout their inpatient admission and enabling safe discharges from the hospital with appropriate support from qualified members of staff. This post will involve working alongside Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists and other members of the multi-disciplinary teams. The focus will be on functional, cognitive and psychological rehabilitation, promoting recovery and independence, complex discharge planning and enhancing the patient's journey. WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR The successful applicants will need to have excellent verbal and non-verbal communication skills, demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills within a team, and be able to demonstrate good problem solving skills. Experience working as part of a rehabilitation team is also essential criteria. Therapy Services run a 7-day flexible working service so you need to be able to work weekends and bank holidays on a rota basis.
