Job Description PROPERTY CONTRACTS APPRENTICESHIPS 2020 In August, 2020 the Property Contracts Unit will be employing new Modern Apprentices supported by the Modern Apprenticeship Programme, in the following trades:- Apprentice Carpenter and Joiner Apprentice Plumber Apprentice Electrician x 2 Each Apprenticeship will run for 4 years and all Apprentices will be registered with the Modern Apprenticeship Programme as employees of Clackmannanshire Council. During this period every Apprentice will attend an appropriate Further Education Centre to attain the qualification applicable to each trade and in the final year the Apprentice Carpenter and Joiner and Apprentice Electrician will sit a skills test. All the Apprentices will work with teams of skilled crafts people on a variety of different tasks within the particular unit they are assigned to. The Apprentice Carpenter and Joiner will be paid an annual salary of £8351.23 and the Apprentice Plumber and the Apprentice Electrician will be paid an annual salary of £8406.23 during the first year of the Apprenticeship (plus any pay awards) which will be increased each year of the remaining 3 years. (Subject to the national minimum wage requirements). Applicants should have a genuine interest in the trade selected and be able to demonstrate that they are keen to become a tradesperson. You must have studied an appropriate course at school and have achieved or expect to achieve a minimum of 4 National 4's at SCQF level 4 or above or equivalent, including Maths, English and Physics for the Apprentice Electrician and Maths, English, Craft & Design or similar for the Apprentice Carpenter and Joiner and the Apprentice Plumber. (Please note that prelim results will be considered when shortleeting, however no formal offer of employment will be made until qualifications are obtained). Shortleeted applicants will be invited to sit an appropriate theory test at Kelliebank, Riverbank Industrial Estate, Alloa. FK10 1NT on one of the following dates: Monday 27 April, 2020 Tuesday 28 April, 2020 Wednesday 29 April, 2020 An interview list will be drawn up following a selection process based on consideration of both the application form and the results of the test. The interviews for all the apprenticeships will take place during: Monday 18 May, 2020 Tuesday 19 May, 2020 Wednesday 20 May, 2020 Thursday 21 May, 2020 Only one interview will be arranged for each selected applicant and the successful candidates will then be appointed to start on Monday 3 August, 2020. Dates may be subject to change. Property Contracts Unit is part of Housing & Community Safety and operates from a base at Kelliebank, which is within the Industrial Area on the South side of Alloa. The Depot at Kelliebank covers an area of six acres and has extensive office facilities, various stores, joiners, glaziers, engineering and vehicle workshops. Property Contracts Unit offers a repair and maintenance service to the Council 24 hours per day 365 days per year with our main clients being the other Council services.
