Albany Molecular Research Inc. provides global contract research and manufacturing services to the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries. We have an exciting opportunity for a Modern Apprentice to join our business in the position of a Lab Technician supporting the work of our Analytical and Formulation Development groups, and getting to see hands on how our scientists and labs operate in a facility where new drug products are being developed and manufactured, and at the same time being supported to achieve a Scientific qualification at college. The Lab Technician is a trainee technical position, with responsibility for providing a support function for the Development groups in undertaking a range of routine technical tasks, and ensuring this work is performed in an organised, safe, compliant and timely manner. This role is an integral part of ensuring an efficient and organised lab, with duties including maintaining, and cleaning of lab equipment and consumables such as glassware, and working towards being trained to be able to calibrate, test and set up lab equipment. You will also ensure stock and resources required by the scientists are ordered and maintained, and ensuring systems, log books and records are kept up to date. All work is performed within the Glasgow facility and operates to ensure that sterile products are manufactured to GMP in a consistent manner. This position operates as a Modern Apprentice with both college based study working towards an HNC in Applied Science, as well as an SVQ and on-job training being provided in order to enhance knowledge and skills. Job Responsibilities will include: * Ordering of laboratory consumables using Oracle purchasing system. * Cleaning of laboratory glassware. * Responsible for safe disposal of waste. * Sample receipt. * Component testing. * Approval of incidentals. * Assist with component preparation for non-GMP technical batches. * Labelling of stability samples and assisting stability set down. * Performs regular checks on stability cabinets, fridges and freezers. * Works to schedule as defined by the line manager. * Performs routine calibration/validation of analytical/development equipment according to relevant SOPS and protocols. * Ensures that laboratory analytical equipment is appropriately used in accordance with internal SOPs. * Recording of deviations, where required. * Assist in the investigation of out of scope (OOS), out of time (OOT) and system failures, where required. * To operate documented systems and regular compliance checks to ensure that duties are performed and GMP standards are maintained * Ensuring stability cabinets are maintained in accordance with relevant procedures * Identifies and performs personal development in line with ...
