Overview

SF Group are working with Birmingham Diocesan Academies Trust to recruit a HR Officer for Birmingham City Centre paying £27k. Reporting to the Chief Finance & Operations Officer, the HR Officer at Birmingham Diocesan Multi-Academy Trust (BDMAT) will ensure the smooth operation of HR processes within the Trust and act as the main contact point for HR queries as well as be the day to day liaison with the Trust's external HR advisors and schools.The HR Officer will oversee and be responsible for the day to day HR processes of the Trust and its schools. This will include: - coordinating recruitment activities across the Trust; - working with the executive team to develop the BDMAT brand as an employer of choice; - working with the executive team on HR policies and procedures and ensure they operate across the Trust; - acting as the day to day liaison for the Trust with external HR advisors, including our solicitors; - ensuring that all HR records are complete and kept up to date - liaising with union representatives over 'case work'; and - working with the executive team to ensure appropriate staff welfare services are in place and provide value for money. Core purpose To ensure that the HR processes of BDMAT run smoothly and in line with the Trust's policies and legislation, whilst delivering excellent service to the schools and all employees. To ensure safer recruitment practices are robust. Specific responsibilities Recruitment - Facilitate and administer all staff recruitment activities across the Trust and ensuring that recruitment policies are followed at all times - Creation and posting of adverts - Tracking applications - Liaising with line managers over shortlisting - Arranging interviews - Leading on candidate communications - Development of application packs and information - Ensuring correct job descriptions and person specifications are used for all appointments - Liaison with external recruiters as necessary - Maintaining recruitment database in compliance with the Trust's data retention policies - Ensuring all appointments are budgeted for and correct authorisations have taken place - Ensure all interview panels have a member who has recent safer recruitment training - Ensure all safer recruitment practices are followed robustly - Maintain the Trust's Single Central Record, liaising with school admin staff to support with this HR Processes - Promote and ensure the Trust's HR policies and procedures - Provide support to line managers on the HR policies and procedures, attending meetings where necessary - Keep the executive team up to date with HR issues and activities taking place across the Trust - Issue contracts and other employment documentation - Produce required communications to support HR processes across the Trust - Liaise with external advisors to ensure the Trust meets all legal requirements regarding HR - Act as system administrator for the HR system Record Keeping - Centralisation of HR files across the Trust - Creation of electronic HR records for all staff members - Retention of HR files in line with legal requirements and Trust policies - Administration of the Trust's Single Central Record Reporting - Provide periodic reports on attendance and vacancies to Trust and school leaders - Provide ad-hoc HR data to Trust and school leaders on request - Monitor HR trends and patterns within BDMAT and suggest relevant actions to the CFOO Retention & Welfare - Liaise with Office Managers to ensure accurate training records are kept for members of staff across the Trust - Work with the CFOO to ensure the Trust achieves and retains external recognition for its employment practices - Ensure exit interviews are conducted and that the outcomes of these meetings are retained and where necessary acted upon - Support the Trust in the development of staff welfare services for the Trust e.g. OH services, Mental Health support Payroll - Work with the Payroll Officer to ensure all staff are paid correctly and on time each month - Work with the Payroll Officer to ensure all staff received an annual salary letter - As part of the central team support in the completion of monthly payroll in the absence of the Payroll Officer - Deputise for the Payroll Officer in their absence re processing of pay and dealing with staff queries Training - Undertake HR induction for newly appointed headteachers and school admin leaders - Lead training for staff on HR issues General - Support the overall Christian ethos of the Trust - Be a part of the BDMAT Central Team - Provide admin support to the central team as required - Produce confidential reports and information as required. - Understand the implications of government policies and education trends, and developments particularly in relation to HR - Be familiar and comply with all relevant health and safety, operational, personnel, safeguarding, data protection GDPR and financial regulations, policies and procedures. - Ensure equality of opportunity is afforded to all persons both internal and external to the Trust, actively seeking to eliminate any direct or indirect discriminatory practices/behaviour. - Commitment to own continuous professional development. - Operate as directed within any setting across and beyond the BDMAT, mindful of the post-holder's life-work balance. - Willingness to work flexibly, sometimes outside of normal core hours, in response to service demands. - Maintain the confidentiality of information acquired in the course of und
