Overview
Quality Control Technician Pirbright (GU24 0NQ) The Pirbright Site The Boehringer Ingelheim business manufactures and distributes vaccines for foot and mouth disease that is common in cloven-hoofed animals. This is a highly infectious viral infection of cattle, pigs, sheep and other ruminant’s animals, this can be a fatal disease that can spread very quickly amongst these animals. Not only do we do manufacture this product, but we also store and bank the product for our worldwide customers in the event of an outbreak. Some of the countries we export to are, South Korea, Vietnam, Thailand and Kenya. Role Purpose Support the Quality Control Department in the testing and release of Foot & Mouth disease antigen and vaccine batches, whilst supporting with utilities and environmental testing required to maintain compliance on a GMP manufacturing site. This role plays an essential part in ensuring that when products produced on the site are released to market, they are safe, efficacious and achieve the required level of quality. There is a need for day-to-day decision making in collaboration with line manager and support functions. Key Responsibilities All aspects of in process and final product testing where results are used to support release of batches to required specifications, including receipt of test samples into QC. Support with QC QMS processes such as, OOS, deviations, CAPA and change controls Writing and updating relevant SOPs and material specifications Support with validation activities Managing stock levels and ordering of consumables/ other test reagents through KANBAN system. Support purchase of other equipment as required. Support with site utilities and environmental testing programs Maintenance and control of reagents used for relevant QC analytical tests Sterilization of equipment and waste removal from the restricted area by use of the autoclave and fumigation lock. Experience required Some experience of working in a regulated analytical laboratory. Knowledge of GxP quality systems. Proficient in Microsoft Office packages. Organised, team player and able to work to deadlines.
