Overview
Product Manager, Bedford - Finally, a Product Manager role that isn't software but food and an industry related to the sustainability side of food supply This role manages the production of physical products sold into retailers and food brands globally, and the chances are that you've handled one of their products already this week without knowing it. The company are known well to us, and we're working with them on a retained basis to handle the sourcing for this product management role. Their culture is brilliant; down to earth, pragmatic, and they actively promote real, and genuine ownership of your role, encouraging real autonomy and creativity. They've progressively grown over the years to become one of the industry leaders, but they retain the agility of a smaller business, and what they don't know about manufacturing these products isn't worth knowing. To have a good chance of getting an interview here, you'll be from a Product or Category focussed background (of a couple of years), and ideally some experience in an industry that sells into retailers; ideally FMCG, but at the very minimum, working with tangible products. We mentioned owning your role; you will have huge amounts of autonomy here, liaising with the retailers to understand the problems they're facing, and then working with the design team to create products that work for them both in a practical sense and that are on-brand. You'll own bringing the product to market, and report on the success along the way. Category Management forms a part of this, so you'll need some experience here, or some understanding of the challenges in retail, how products are displayed, and what they need to maximise sales. Sustainability is something core to everything this business does, so any experience of products being sold to retailers with some restrictions surrounding they're packaging or manufacture would be beneficial.
