Overview

Due to a business growth a well-established manufacturer of automotive components is recruiting for a Production Engineer. The Production Engineer will ensure production works efficiently and all works are carried according to ISO9001 QMS. You will also maintain a supply of tools, CNC programs and other equipment and assist in setting production targets. Key tasks: To determine all manufacturing methods of new products together with the individual operational standard time. Producing and amending programs for all CNC machines using CAM systems and producing associated set-up sheets and tooling lists. To examine new machine tools, cutting tools and associated media and processes through journals, visiting other users and attending exhibitions. Investigating and preparing justification for capital equipment. Selecting and co-ordination of suitable sub-contract sources, with accountability for quality, price and delivery. Providing training to engineers and other employees such as operators and apprentices. Be involved in cross-functional project teams in improving the efficiency of the manufacturing process. To examine other activities that is services to production and to recommend changes for improved productivity. Lead in the introduction of new machine tools, providing support to the shop floor during the initial periods. Design jigs, fixtures and tooling equipment necessary for production. Skills/Experience requirements The Production Engineer will have in depth knowledge and understanding of metal cutting, turning and milling/ drilling. Must be competent in programming CNC machines using CAM. Demonstrable experience of process planning products through the manufacturing processes and HNC in Mechanical Engineering is essential.
