Responsible to: Senior NPD Technologist Our Vision Statement: "The World’s Most Trusted Vaping Brands’ The NPD team consists of two Senior NPD Technologists and one other NPD Technologist. The Department is responsible for developing flavours, ensuring safety standards and compliance are adhered to and the primary functions are: 1. Formulations 2. Quality Assurance 3. Testing 4. NPD (New Product Development) 5. Certification 6. Regulatory Compliance 7. Procurement guidelines 8. SOPs 9. Technical Q&A 10. Product queries and investigations 11. Management of raw product Duties and Responsibilities Formulation · Development of flavour profiles for E-Liquids, Oils and related products · Chemical compatibility of formulations that are fit for purpose · Product characterisation (Physical) · Screening of raw materials to check product meets client specifications and supplier claims This also applies to regulatory requirements · Panel feedback on flavour profile Quality Assurance · Ensuring product meets client specification in terms of correct label claims · Ensuring bill of materials meets approved original recipe / formulation · Understanding productions limitations and implementing continuity of procedure from small scale samples to mass production Testing · Routine batch testing · R&D analytical testing · Management of external lab testing when required pertaining to raw materials and final product · Insuring test methods are up to date and fit for purpose for both internal and external testing · Ensuring adequate stock levels of CRM’s (certified reference materials) and developing internal RM’s (reference materials) and associated components New Product Development (NPD) · Checking criteria of NPD requests in terms of prescribes as dictated by company policy and feasibility · Keeping abreast of the latest flavour developments and technology and imparting such knowledge in reports to line manager · Seeking opportunities within the industry to enhance company IP (Patents and Trade Secrets) · Providing guidelines and support to office staff in terms of NPD requests · Providing guidelines for Procurement in terms of asset requisitions (QC and Production) · Communicate NPD developments internally · Source and develop relationships with Flavour Houses and suppliers, ensuring that all ingredient components are to the highest quality and standard Certification · Insuring that all products comply with any requisite certification - HACCP, COA, etc. · Management of SDS (Safety Data Sheets) generation through 3rd party · Generation of TDS (Technical data sheets) when required by management · Ensuring all certification is up to date and filed correctly with east access and backed up in electronic form Regulatory Compliance · COSHH (control of substances hazardous to health) compliance. · HACCP (Hazard and Critical Control Point) compliance. · EA (Environmental Agency) compliance is terms of waste disposal. · REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and restriction of chemicals) compliance · FSA (Food Standards Agency) compliance · CLP (Classification Labelling and Packaging) guidance to the Design department Procurement Guidelines · Screening of procured items to ensure fit for purpose is complied with under regulations · Providing technical guidance for the procurement of set materials · Setting of minimum standards in terms of acquired materials and variants thereof (due diligence) SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) · Setting of operating procedures for testing lab and R&D lab · Ensuring SOP’s are up to date and maintained in terms of minimum agreed to standards (QC) 1. Technical Q&A (Questions and answers) · Offering guidelines to technical questions posed by internal staff Product queries and investigations · Retrieving samples and investigating queries · Generating reports pertaining to such investigations Management of Raw Materials · Ensuring adequate separation of non-compatible raw materials · Ensuring materials stored are not expired · Ensuring materials stored are locked away where needed and key access is controlled Other · Maintain confidentiality in and outside the workplace, regarding data on the computer systems · Promote and ensure the good reputation of Vapouriz and its individual divisions · Support the aims and ethos of the Vapouriz, setting a good example in terms of dress, behaviour, punctuality and attendance · Undertake any other such relevant duties as may be required from time to time that may be reasonably asked of you and by your line manager Adhere to all Company policies and procedures within the defined timescales Benefits: On-site parking Company events & social hours Free or subsidised travel Subsidised gym membership Company pension Employee discounts Sick pay Wellness programsPrivate medical
