Working on behalf of a Local Authority, Aatom Recruitment has an excellent opportunity for an experienced Lead User Researcher on a 6-month contract with a possibility of an extension. Purpose of Lead User Researcher: As Lead User Researcher you will be an expert practitioner, leading and aligning user research activities across several teams. At this level, you will be expected to ensure that teams take a user-centred, evidence-based approach to service design and delivery, and develop and assure good user research practice. We are looking for a Lead User Researcher who will: Work as part of the Service Transformation leadership team to ensure that user research is aligned to organisational aims and objectives Be an inspiring leader, coach and trainer on all things service design and user research, to become a trusted advisor for user research Oversee every member of the User Research team, their role, their assignments, development, pay and performance Manage hiring, moves and exits from the User Research team, covering public servants and contractors Line-manage, coach and up-skill user researchers in the team Build, develop, skill and support a user research community of practice across Provide team leadership, mentorship, and pastoral line management to the user researchers in the Service Transformation Team and beyond Bring experience of delivering services using the Government Service Standard Analysis and synthesis. As Lead User Researcher you will: Help an organisation adopt a wide range of analysis, research methods. and synthesis techniques. Know how to help an organisation continually assure, improve and innovate their practices to generate clear and valuable findings. Help teams understand the diversity of users of government services. You know how to include all kinds of users in appropriate research activities. Advocate for inclusive practices and help teams design and deliver accessible services that work for all users, engaging sceptical colleagues and stakeholders. Lead a community of practice to help an organisation continually assure, improve and innovate their user research. Help teams understand the ways that digital technology is changing user behaviour, and the challenges and opportunities for design and delivery of government services. Understand organisational goals and challenges. You can align research activities across teams to inform policy and proposition. Know about the technologies used to build and operate digital services. Understand and have experience of a range of user-centred practices. Help inexperienced teams adopt user-centred practices and embed them into their agile workflow.
