Overview

Job Description We have an exciting opportunity for a young person interested in gaining experience as a Modern Apprentice working in an administrative environment. Based in the Business Support Team, you will be part of a busy team assisting with a variety of tasks such as responding to telephone and email enquiries; greeting and escorting visitors to meeting venues; processing application forms; updating spreadsheets; generating automated payments; data collation and analysis; and collating and preparing information packs. The successful applicant will be required to commence employment in July/August 2020 and will be based in Moray Council Headquarters in Elgin during their 1 year Modern Apprenticeship. The training programme will be co-ordinated by "Virtual Learning Academy" and would give an opportunity for the successful applicant to undertake their Business Administration qualifications at SCQF Level 5 or 6. In line with Skills Development Scotland "Developing the Young Workforce: Scotland's Youth Employment Strategy" - this post is open to 16-25 year olds only. Requirements To provide efficient and effective clerical support within Education, Communities and Organisational Development, as part of the Business Support Team. The Business Support Team undertakes a diverse range of work to support the service provision of Education, Communities & Organisational Development. Employees will work primarily in one service area, which is the “lead role” of the job, but would be called upon to support other areas where there are peaks in work, similarly being supported by colleagues in handling peaks in their main service area. Troughs in demand will be used for cross training or to support demand elsewhere within Education, Communities & Organisational Development. Responsibilities Provide clerical support for Education, Communities & Organisational Development officers. Undertake tasks and processes to support the work of Education, Communities & Organisational Development. Participate as part of the Business Support Team. Participate in the Council's employee review and development programme. The Individual Experienceof figure work, data entry,word processing and record keeping 4 SQA National 5 grades or equivalent at level 3 or above including English and Maths/Arithmetic Experience of using Microsoft software packages - eg Word, PowerPoint and Excel High level of accuracy in work Ability to prioritise own workload Ability to use initiative in day to day tasks Ability to participate as a team member Effective written and oral communication skills Ability to deliver a high level of customer care Effective organisational and time management skills Self confident and self motivated Appreciation and acceptance of, and commitment to the importance of confidentiality Ability to record information accurately Ability to demonstrate good literacy and numeracy skills Flexible and adaptable Understanding of and ability to demonstrate key inter-personal skills, both on the telephone and face to face Willingness to accept direction/delegation Ability to develop effective working relationships Ability to work in an open plan/shared office Flexibility to meet the needs and demands of the service Ability to work in different offices depending on the needs of the service TEMPORARY - 1 YEAR Closing Date: 31 March 2020 Starting Salary: £14,344 £7.61 per hour 36.25Hours per week Moray Council has implemented the Living Wage therefore the actual hourly rate will be £9.07.
