Overview

Perm £26-28k B32 Must drive HR/Payroll SF Group are looking to recruit a Business Support Officer to help support a business in Birmingham B32. You will provide business administrative support to all functions within the Company. Working as part of the team, the job holder would be expected to undertake a whole range of activities and functions in support of the administration function. Principle Accountabilities: Employee welfare: - Company uniform - issue uniform in accordance with the policy and maintain stock levels. - Company events - organise monthly events, including charity events. - Employee gifts - including long service awards and Christmas gifts. - Issue and maintain a log of locker keys. HR Support: - Maintain HR records, both paper-based and using the relevant HR system. - To prepare reports (including but not limited to attendance, reviews and disciplinary) and update logs / systems on a weekly basis. - To support fact finding investigations. - To support preparation for disciplinaries and grievances. - To support the recruitment process, including CV shortlisting and arranging assessment days. Payroll Support: - To act as Payroll cover in the absence of the Payroll and HR Officer. - To submit timesheet to temporary recruitment agencies in the absence of the Payroll and HR Officer. Company cars: - Control of fleet, including:  Update insurance database  Driver licence register  Car servicing and MOT arrangements  Issuing and monitoring of pool car(s)  Lease arrangements for new vehicles Office Support:  Reception - visitor board, visitor book and visitor passes.  Switchboard - fielding and directing incoming phone calls.  Stationery - stock control.  Administration and control of company notice boards.  Printers - arrange call out for faulty printers, maintain toner stock levels. Operations Support:  To provide administration support where required. Other: - To support health, safety and environmental action plans, agreed by the company to ensure a safe working environment for all employees by the effective development and deployment of related company policies; - To carry out any other duties, relevant to the post which may arise. Technical Expertise Required: Previous experience in an HR role. Good knowledge of payroll regulations, including tax, NI and Inland Revenue requirements. Excellent IT skills particularly in Excel, Word and Access. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Experience of working in a diverse, multi-cultural environment. The ability to work consistently and conscientiously at all times. High degree of accuracy and consistency. A proven methodical, efficient organised approach to work. Logical approach to problem solving and excellent analytical skills. The ability to demonstrate and challenge convention and lateral thinking in the Company. Supervision This role does not have any direct supervisory responsibility. Assignment and Review of Work The assignment of work is co-ordinated by the HR, Training and GA Manager in support of business requirements. The HR, Training and GA Manager has final decision in which activities are undertaken by each member of the team. Decision Making Authority The job holder would be responsible for initiating proposals for authorisation to management level for all activities and items of expenditure. Any decision involving the commitment of company expenditure would be taken at management level. Contact With Others Communication / contact via any method at all levels within the company. Effect on Assets The effectiveness of the function will have significant impact on the performance of all departments and hence the profitability and thus long-term survival of the business. Physical Environment The job holder is based in the main office but may be required to work in other locations of the Company as may be required from time to time. Core office hours and parking.
