Overview

Our client, a large not for profit organisation based in Liverpool is seeking to appoint a Head of Financial Accounting paying £65,000 (10% increase after 12 month's service, dependent on performance) a range of benefits including pension, flexible working, health care scheme, child care vouchers, retail discounts and cycle to work schemes. The Role: Head of Financial Accounting This newly created job will provide leadership and direction to the Financial Accounting and Finance Processing teams in all aspects of their work. You will be responsible for ensuring appropriate and robust financial controls are in place across the group, financial reporting, production of the statutory accounts and regulatory returns and cash flow reporting. Key responsibilities: Work closely with the Finance Director to ensure the Financial Accounting team are fully developed, motivated and managed; recruiting, reviewing performance and providing coaching. Lead the production of financial statutory and regulatory reporting to meet required standards. Development of financial accounting processes and procedures ensuring compliance with FRS’s, SORP and IFRS. Assess the implications of changes in reporting standards and ensure that these are adopted in the most effective way. Work closely with the Group Tax Manager in the management of VAT efficiency, VAT return, calculation and preparation of corporate tax return and overall tax compliance. Co-ordinate and facilitate the external audit. To provide challenge to the business to ensure that appropriate financial controls are applied to all key systems, processes and ways of working across the group. To support the budget, quarterly forecast and business plan processes, in particular for the preparation of cash flows and balance sheets. To prepare monthly and quarterly cash flow reports including investigation of variances for inclusion in the Group management accounts. Provide robust financial support to promote efficiency and to generally manage and improve financial reporting across the Group. Lead and drive efficient, standardised, effective and systematic finance processing services for the Group. Ensure the relevant SLAs and KPIs are in place to provide efficient and relevant finance processing services to the Group, seeking to drive efficiency and improvements, for both internal and external customers. Drive appropriate processes to ensure timely and accurate payments to suppliers and collection of debt. To initiate, deliver on and be involved in any projects which will increase efficiency of transaction processing. Develop appropriate finance systems enhancements to improve efficiency and ensure the integrity of internal controls operating within the finance function. Play a key role in cross functional groups focusing on finding solutions to current business issues, as well as generating creative thinking amongst the business. Develop and maintain good working relationships with both internal and external customers, in particular the external auditors Ensure that financial accounting and processing services to the business are customer focused, fit for purpose and contemporary To play an active role in the Finance Management Team. The Person : It is essential you are a fully qualified accountant with proven financial accounting skills gained in a large organisation with proven management skills.
