Analytical Chemist (Polymers) c£Competitive Bonus Benefits South East AB/J4698 A chemist or materials chemist with an interest or experience in polymers is urgently required to work closely with the senior scientist within R&D teams to help to develop and validate biodegradation testing methodology for polymers, long term role will transition into a more general analytical chemist, supporting ongoing biodegradation testing as well as other analytical needs. As an analytical polymer chemist you will independently plan and execute technical work programs associated with projects. As an analytical polymer chemist you will be able to lead a straightforward technical project under supervision. You will have a detailed understanding in a specific technical area and as a chemist with experience of polymers you will be able to apply your knowledge effectively. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES · Participate in all tasks assigned to ensure maintenance of laboratory safety. · To be responsible for the development and validation of biodegradation testing. · To be responsible for processing of biodegradation requests and report writing. · Pro-actively identify, report on and improve safety related issues using available tools and systems. · Provide practical technical support to Operations and Customers. · Keep detailed records of laboratory work; discuss results with supervisor and provide logical suggestions to solve problems met; write occasional reports. · Develop and maintain an understanding of the Department's application areas. · Play a key role in maintaining a clean and safe standard of laboratory housekeeping. Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience Required: · BSc in chemistry/biochemistry or materials chemistry or polymer chemistry · Experience in analytical, industrial lab environment. · Experience with materials testing, polymers / polymer testing in biodegradation desirable · Some experience in a R&D environment, preferably in a polymer or composites related field. · Experience of research related to Polymer Science. · An understanding of plastics,adhesives composites coatings, or additives or and/or polymer modification/testing would be a distinct advantage They offer an attractive salary, commensurate with qualifications and experience as well as associated benefits, including Bonus (non-guaranteed) and Pension Scheme.
