US/UK Tax Apprentice Up to £21,000 inc. bonus holiday pension perks Please read carefully and in full before applying. We are a boutique but growing international tax advisory firm looking to hire a school leaver to be trained in the preparation of US taxes for American expats living in the UK as well as UK taxes for non-domiciled taxpayers. We are looking for an energetic, enthusiastic, and competent apprentice to assist the team in the preparation of client case work and handling client admin issues. If you perform well you could build a very successful career in the dual US/UK area. In the first instance you will be, among other things: Using MS Excel to organise, analyse and manipulate client information. This will be the initial focus of the role and some knowledge and experience with Excel is important. Performing the initial processing and the primary preparation of client case work using our complex tax software to produce the first draft of client output Liaising with clients to request outstanding information and update them on progress Learning the rules regarding taxation of US citizens abroad Learning the rules regarding UK taxes for non-doms (and regular UK taxpayers) Assisting with the management of the overall client book In due course the role would lead to obtaining Enrolled Agency (US) and ATT (UK) qualifications We require someone who completes their work to a high standard, has very good attention to detail, can take the initiative, can learn quickly, and fit well within the team. You need: Minimum 5 GCSEs Grades A- C or 4 - 9 (inc. Maths and English Language) Minimum of 104 UCAS points under the 2017 tariff point system (e.g. BCC at A Level or equivalent qualifications) excluding General Studies To be numerate and a good problem solver To be competent with use of Microsoft Excel and other MS Office products To have a very good attention to detail, be a quick learner and be well organized A strong work ethic and be enthusiastic and proactive, and be able to work independently and in a team Very good written and spoken English language skills, including good telephone manner To live within an easy commute of the office or be willing to relocate. (We are currently based in London N3 and are soon to be relocating to NW1) To be pleasant to have in the office and work well with the small team Salary is dependent upon qualifications.
