MR37: Associate (Transport Planner) Location: London Salary: Competitive Overview: First Military Recruitment are currently seeking an Associate for our client based in London who specialise in transport planning. Applications from ex-military personnel are actively encouraged however, all applicants will be given due consideration. Duties and responsibilities: Responsible for contributing to the commercial success of the business Manage and develop key relationships with clients Plan and manage all input on projects including setting and meeting deadlines and budgets Take a hands-on/leadership role as part of a management team of Associates/Associate Partners within the office including developing business plans and delivering the agreed targets Take responsibility for specific aspects the day-to-day running of the office including dealing with administrative/non-technical issues as well as dealing with a demanding technical work load Establish and maintain excellent internal and external relationships, ensuring effective communication of objectives and plans both orally and in writing Identify, analyse and implement opportunities for Business Development to increase the volume of project work and achieve the agreed Business Plan targets Provide professional leadership to all employees Drive growth, profitability and value Provide technical advice with an appropriate balance between meeting budgets, meeting deadlines and providing a high quality product; Promote and sustain a constructive, supportive, friendly working relationship with all clients and work colleagues Contribute towards the overall business strategy Skills and qualification: Commercial management of projects and clients Understand the wider commercial considerations within the Transport Planning sector Has a ‘corporate’ understanding and therefore can make appropriate decisions without needing to gain Partner approval, but at the same time working closely with the Partners and other Associate Partners to keep them informed. 8-10 years Transport Planning background, preferably in private sector consultancy role Successful retention of clients Is technically sound Is an effective communicator with clients, staff and the Partners Is dedicated and leads from the front Is able to effectively delegate to and manage staff to meet the demanding expectations of clients Is a proven work winner and/or understands how to manage client relationships to secure long term working relationships Understands where the business needs to get to and puts in the necessary structure to ensure that it will get there Has a sound financial understanding in terms of budget setting and control Leadership skills High level of technical expertise and thorough knowledge of planning and transportation policies Strong direct relationship skills Public Inquiry experience (in the form of giving evidence) preferable Location: London Salary: Competitive
