Overview

Job Purpose An exciting opportunity to join a growing team. The Risk Assurance Services (RAS) team has experienced strong growth in recent years and is well placed to build on this further as the firm responds to the changes in the market. You will be responsible for delivering proactive, high quality and value-added risk assurance services to a portfolio of our Industry and Services clients. This role is predominately London based but with travelling outside of London subject to client and business need. The Director will report to the Partner on a day to day basis and corresponding Partners within RAS. The role will principally involve day to day client management ensuring delivery of risk assurance services to clients to the agreed quality and in accordance with agreed timescales, resource planning, attending audit and risk committees, business development, and management of financial and operational performance across respective client portfolio and direct reports. You will also be expected to build your own client portfolio and contribute to the wider success of the service line and help in its continuous improvement. Job Role • Responsible for supporting the partner to lead the RAS Industry & Services team • Responsible for building and managing a client portfolio across Industry & Services delivering risk assurance services • Plays an active role business development within the Industry & Services sector, including introducing new potential clients, drafting proposals and leading client presentations. • Builds external relationships with target companies and speaks externally on hot topics to build the Mazars brand • Development and delivery of new RAS solutions including controls consulting and hot topics in the market • Development of risk based internal audit strategies and annual plans. • Responsible for internal audit programmes and oversees and manages all aspects of fieldwork including closing meetings with management and resource planning • Preparation and finalisation of RAS reports that are suitable for partner review in accordance with agreed timescales. • People management responsibilities: annual appraisals, performance management, employee engagement including making a positive contribution to team/service line meetings. • Attendance at Audit and Risk Committees including presentation of agenda items as well as contributing to the wider agenda. • Being proactive, managing expectations and maintaining good relationships with clients including regular progress meetings as well as ensuring any problems or requests are dealt with promptly. • Providing on the job advice and training to junior auditors and supervision of junior staff when required. • Acts as a point of contact for senior staff and client, ensuring both are kept fully informed of any issues arising and the progress of the audits/plan. • Responds to the needs of the client and staff. • Responsibility of managing and tracking financial performance across direct client portfolio whilst also supporting the wider service line in achievement of overall budget. • To deliver confident and clear presentations of service features and benefits to client. • Ensures that the services provided are genuinely appropriate for the client. • Sees opportunities and prospects for new work for both RAS and other service lines. Person Specification • Educated to degree level and qualified accountant - ACA/ACCA, IIA or equivalent. • Experience of managing a portfolio of clients and a team of staff. • Experience of leading and delivering internal audits in professional practice or in-house team. • Experience in working with a range of Industry & Services clients and possesses a sound technical understanding of technical issues these sectors. • Proven people management experience. • Experience of following a risk based audit approach. • As this position involves client contact, the person must be able to present a professional image to the firm’s clients. • Excellent written and verbal presentation skills required. • Desire to help grow and develop the sector and service line. • Ability to develop and implement new initiatives and methodologies. • Ability to identify issues though sound analysis and application of commercial acumen in all situations. • Ability to express ideas with authority and conviction throughout verbal and written communication; and • Ability to develop self and others.
