There is a unique opportunity for an apprentice to join DIO Technical Services to help and support corporate initiatives and programmes of work that support our Armed Forces. Technical Services offers and provides a wide array of specialisms in their support to MOD. These include Engineering & Construction, Safety Health and Environment Protection, Security Services Group, Programme Support & Standards, Risk & Assurance. This role will provide the successful individual with a desirable core foundation skill set that will be attractive to any employer whilst providing unique hands on experience within the Defence Environment. Job description The Business Support Officer is accountable for ensuring their team adhere and conform with all agreed MOD processes and operating procedures, and particularly those which are detailed under the key infrastructure process for: ensuring their senior manager can perform her/his function effectively and efficiently, in the delivery of Technical Services activity assurance, and providing an efficient administrative support service. The Level 4 Business Administration Higher Apprenticeship is provided by Knowledge pool and will typically take 21 months to complete. Starting salary of £17,313, increasing at the 2 year (£18,332) upon successful completion of apprenticeship modules. Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship, you will achieve a Level 4 NVQ Diploma in Business Administration and a Level 4 BTEC Diploma in Business Administration. Essential Qualifications • GCSE Grade ‘C’ or above in Maths and English, or the equivalent, such as key skills or functional skills. • Level 2 English and Maths (or equivalent) will need to be achieved, if not already attained. Desirable Skills/experience Proven experience in working in a team, ability to think independently, pays particular attention to detail, Ability to scrutinize data and report on the findings & experience using Microsoft IT systems. If you do not have your original certificates please contact the relevant educational authority to obtain copies as soon as possible as this could delay your start date if successful. 2 of the following; Passport, driving license OR birth certificate PLUS Confirmation of address (e.g bank statement) About our Team Technical Services provides the Department’s intelligent customer capability for our specialist subject areas; we are an in-house resource established to support the business in its projects and offer Technical advice. We supervise, monitor and judge whether deliverables and activities of contractors meet the requirements of the contract, legal duties and MOD Policy in relation to Engineering, Construction, Health, Safety and Environmental protection. Responsibilities Main Responsibilities include, but not limited to: Corporate Support • Demonstrate a personal commitment to DIO Values. • Support line manager in delivering departmental goals. • Ensure own compliance with mandatory requirements e.g. Health and Safety Training. • Promote strong working relationships both within the team and with other teams across DIO and MOD. Contract Management/ Programme Support • To support the Senior Programme Managers on corporate initiatives and bespoke programmes of work effecting Engineering & Construction, Health & Safety and Environmental. • Contract documentation administration. • General duties related to assurance activities. Stakeholder Management • Ensure stakeholders and customers experience a professional, well run office. • Support line manager and team in maintaining stakeholder information and contacts. • Day-to-day interaction with stakeholder’s offices/staff. • Maintain awareness of DIO corporate messaging. Communication and Engagement • Support line manager and team in maintaining communications and engagement information and contacts by becoming one of the primary focal points for Technical Services. • Day-to-day interaction with offices/staff on communications and engagement. Financial Management & Assurance • Assist the Business Support Manager with the management of local budgets including the processing of invoices and audit programme. Provision of administrative support will be expected of this role and additional duties in line with business need. Apprenticeship Programme: On successful completion, apprentices will achieve a Level 4 NVQ Diploma in Business Administration and a Level 4 BTEC Diploma in Business Administration. Employment will be on a fixed term basis for the duration of the apprenticeship. Progression throughout and at the end of the scheme will be dependent on performance. For this cohort of apprentices, candidates will be expected to be in post by May/June 2020. To secure placement on the apprenticeship programme, job offers must be accepted by no later than 30th April 2020. Failure to do so will result in having your apprenticeship offer withdrawn.
