Overview

Dains are urgently looking for an experienced Payroll Technician to provide a seamless delivery of key payroll processes, to a high standard and to agreed client deadlines. This is a permanent, full time role, which will be based within our busy Payroll team, in Lichfield. The working hours will be 09.00am - 5.15pm, Monday to Friday. The ideal candidate will have experience within a bureau environment and have extensive payroll knowledge. You will need to be able to juggle multiple tasks at once and have a positive, can-do attitude. Dains is a regional firm of accountants & business advisers specialising in growing owner managed businesses in the Midlands. Our primary offices are in Birmingham, Burton on Trent, Derby, Lichfield, Rugeley and Stoke on Trent. Our services include accountancy, audit, business recovery, forensic accounting, insolvency, corporate finance and tax advice. Responsibilities: To prepare a range of payrolls of varying complexity in accordance with the client’s deadlines To be pro-active in advising clients when their payroll is not complying with current legislation To accurately complete bank payments on behalf of the client, providing details to the bank by set deadlines To complete Inland Revenue returns such as full payment submissions and employment payment submissions To maintain an up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation To understand and keep up to date on the different types of pension schemes and how to calculate pension payments accurately To plan your own workload with some input from Manager where required To assist the Manager in ensuring that all payrolls are being carried out by the payroll department To assist in the development of the department, including constantly looking for ways to improve profitability via improved systems and increasing department portfolio of clients To maintain the upkeep of payroll files to specified standards To ensure client satisfaction at all times Key Skills: Proven experience working in a payroll bureau environment Sage50 Payroll Proactive Resilient Able to juggle multiple payrolls at once Excellent customer service Payroll qualification desirable Fully IT literate Microsoft package experience Self-motivation and the ability to work on own initiative The ability to work accurately to tight deadlines Excellent organisational skills A positive, pro-active, can-do attitude Pro-actively look for ways to improve efficiencies within the payroll function Strong accuracy and attention to detail A flexible approach to working To demonstrate the ability to manage multiple tasks and assignments To perform well under pressure To ensure that the firm is not exposed to unnecessary risk Demonstrates the ability to deal with difficult situations To operate within the firm’s shared values, at all times In return… 25 days annual leave (plus normal statutory bank holidays) Study Support Buying and selling annual leave Cycle to work scheme Payment of professional subscriptions Regular reviews and training Smart working hours Group staff pension scheme Death in service of 4 times salary Volunteer days Refer a friend / client Scheme Wellbeing refreshments Optional health / dental Bespoke Dains portal to include discount for gym membership, car/household insurance, travel, retail, going out etc Quarterly drinks events Summer / Christmas social
