Overview

Hours - Monday until Friday 9am-5pm Location - Skelmersdale Duties: - To maximise income collection and minimise rent arrears and to provide a customer focused income recovery and advice service to Council tenants - Manage tenant rent accounts across four patches by monitoring accounts and contacting tenants when payments are not received, negotiating agreements and taking payments - Early intervention at a low level of debt is important to ensure that debts do not become unmanageable and this role ensures that the first contact is made when a payment is not made on an account - The post holder is required to provide support and advice to those in arrears, understand an individuals financial circumstances and refer to money advisors ensuring tenants understand the process of making a claim for housing costs through Universal Credit. - The post holder ensures that early legal action is taken when persistent non- payment continues. The ideal candidate will have communication skills and the ability to liaise effectively with Housing Benefit and the DWP is key to providing this service in addition to optimising the use of the discretionary housing payments for those who are eligible and to mitigate levels of debt by making referrals to Money advice.
