Overview
Technology Agnostic Software Engineer based in central Cardiff We're helping to scale a cross functional team in a mature Agile environment and currently looking for talented, tech agnostic software engineers who never say no to a challenge and are keen to learn lots of new skills They don't have weird job titles, must haves and a wish list of skill sets, they are open to the right candidate and looking for people that can add real value to what they do. We're keen to speak to software engineers that believe it's easier to learn new syntax and frameworks than stick for too long to a given technology. The team has the sole responsibility of developing, maintaining and supporting the company's core platform and you will have an unparalleled opportunity to contribute your ideas and have genuine influence over how things are done. The whole philosophy for the team is accountability, empowerment and the freedom to make to decisions for yourself… On the tech side of things the company is completely agnostic in terms of what sort of skills are brought to the table and successful candidates will be fully cross trained in tech like React, TypeScript, NodeJS, Apache Spark, Docker, AWS, Python, SQL, noSQL databases & many more technologies The company does not employ ivory tower architects who tell teams what to write and how to write it; there are no silos or specialists in the team as they all design, implement, test, and deploy They have frequent contact with users and the feedback loop between build, measure and learn is fast. It would be great if you have experience in OOP, TDD, BDD and other agile methodologies, other nice to haves would be - Ability to code to a high standard Knows what to test using unit tests and what to test using integration tests Ability to work both independently and in collaboration (when pairing) Flexible and willing to accept changes in priorities as necessary Have ideas and opinions, can articulate them and is ready to back them up with qualified argument Willingness to accept collective team decisions and collective responsibility These things aren't a necessity though, more than anything we are looking for passionate engineers who are interested in the latest technologies.
