Overview
Pasta chef Pophams Bakery is looking for a chef to join the evening pasta team in Hackney. The restaurant is open from Tuesday to Saturday for dinner service with a focus on handmade artisanal pasta created with a modern approach to ingredients and cooking techniques. The small team of chefs work in the open kitchen and are responsible for all the prep, pasta making and cooking on the line during dinner service. As a team we have a collective approach to the menu development, drawing on experience of all team members to create new dishes and valuing input of each individual. Candidates for this role should being energy and commitment to the team and be able to take initiative as well as working closely along side the sous chef and head chef. Candidates must be: Passionate about producing excellent food in an artisanal way Extremely driven and reliable with an ethos of being the best team member possible Experienced in working with fresh pasta, including making pasta dough and shaping a variety of filled and hand shaped pastas is preferred although not essential - training will be provided Be willing to learn and develop skills as part of a small team with a common goal of producing exceptional dishes Creative and openminded about developing dishes that move away from traditional pasta recipes Clean, presentable and happy to work in an open kitchen Knowledgeable about pastry and desserts although experience in this area is not necessarily required Responsibilities: Work alongside the kitchen management to develop the menu and constantly improve the quality of our food Hand shape fresh pasta, prepare fillings and sauces, and cook on the line in a high paced environment Stock control and management Cleaning and keeping the kitchen and all food preparation areas safe and compliant with health and safety regulations Working closely with the front of house team to ensure service is delivered to a high standard This job was originally posted as www.caterer.com/job/89805006
