Biotecture, the UK's leading Living Wall company, has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Maintenance Operative with a passion for plants and horticulture to join our fast-growing and close-knit team, covering London and the UK. We are an innovative designer, builder and supplier of hydroponic, modular living wall systems. Using a patented system, we offer a range of services - from research and consultancy, to design, installation and project management. We are here to transform urban landscapes through green infrastructure and have noticeably helped improve air quality, reduce noise and mitigate the urban heat island effect. About the role: This role would be ideal for someone looking to become a specialist in supporting the infrastructure of maintaining living planted walls and seeking to take on more responsibilities. You will be performing tasks such as pruning and maintaining plants, maintaining irrigation systems, checking moisture levels, topping up nutrients, pest control, etc. This is a field-based role requiring a team player who is passionate and dedicated with a sound and demonstrable knowledge of horticulture. The role offers real responsibility and progression. Responsibilities: Ensuring horticultural quality of all living walls in the field and report horticultural problems to the team leader Pruning and ongoing horticultural maintenance of plants Maintaining photographic record of the living wall Checking moisture levels Removing weeds Topping-up nutrients Treating for pests and diseases in line with instructions from horticultural quality manager Replanting as necessary Undertaking continuous professional development to constantly deliver outstanding horticultural quality of living walls Ensuring compliance and effective delivery of RAMS Maintenance of Irrigation Rig, and hydroponic systems in the field Ensuring no leaks on walls and plant rooms Maintaining guttering, flashings and trims About You: Experience with irrigation and maintenance of irrigation Sound and demonstrable knowledge of horticulture (essential) Experience of water pumps/plumbing and electrics on both installation, maintenance and design of irrigation systems (desirable) Knowledge of installation and maintenance of irrigation to both commercial and private clients (desirable) Working at height ability (no experience needed) IPAF, first aid PASMA, spraying including PA1 and PA6a Full Clean UK Driving Licence Ability to work under own initiative, and ability to work flexible hours Excellent customer service skills Passionate and dedicated Benefits: £24,000 - £26,000 per Annum London Zones 1-6 Oyster card Career progression Sound exciting?
