Overview
Henderson & Taylor (Public Works) Limited, a Civils and Highways Contractor, are recruiting for an experienced Transport and Logistics Manager, for a permanent position in the depot at Chadwell St Mary Essex. This position is immediately available. Working times are Monday to Friday 6:30 am to 5:30 pm, Saturday 6:30 am to midday. This is a busy Contractors Depot supplying plant and materials to approx. 100 operatives and operating over 80 vehicles, which all need managing. It also operates as a recycling centre for Henderson & Taylor’s materials. We have a small concrete plant, an asphalt hot box, a full time fitter, two machine drivers and a Yard/Depot Manager, all of whom will report directly to the new Logistics Manager. The Logistics Manager will be profit responsible for the overall running and management of this Depot, it’s personnel, all of the plant and vehicles, the efficient control of materials and plant in and out. The construction industry attracts strong characters and the Logistics Manager will be expected to manage all personnel with tact and confidence. Specific duties are as follows (but not limited to): · To complete and monitor the Transport Log · Complete all O-Licence (Operators Licence) Regulatory Systems · Dart and Congestion charge deletions, additions and control · To monitor all fuel records and movement, to check the validity of the fuel used against the transport system, to implement fuel policies and ensure fuel receipts are handed in on a daily and weekly bases · To implement other Transport/Logistics/Yard policies · To plan routes/scheduling/loading of activities, when and where required · To record the daily vehicle movements · To complete defect books and undertake rectifications and oversee completion of · To implement random gate checks · Filing of vehicle and other documents · Monitor Carbon Emissions · Oversee Tracker Installations · Oversee Vehicle Insurance · Liaise with Insurers re accidents and claims, submit evidences and forms · Maintain Insurance Database · Implement and arrange vehicle repairs · Undertake review of effecting climate changes · Maintain Plant Operations · Signing Plant in and out of premises · Control location of Plant · Invoicing Plant · Maintain Plant schedules · Liaising with Plant Fitter · Repairs/replacement/sourcing parts · To help load unload of vehicles in busy times · Monitor Material’s in and out of yard · Ensure Welfare units are controlled and cleaned Skills required; · Must have FORS knowledge · OLAC Accredited · Understanding of all Transport and Highways Legislation · Good Word and Excel skills preferable · Good time management · Good written and vocal English Benefits You will report directly to the Managing Director of the business Pension after probation period Life Insurance after probation period 20 days holiday plus 8 Bank Holidays per year The remuneration package will be in line with the roles and responsibilities of the position We aim to be an equal opportunities employer and we are determined to ensure that no applicant or employee receives less favourable treatment on the grounds of gender, age, disability, religion, belief, sexual orientation, marital status, or race, or is disadvantaged by conditions or requirements which cannot be shown to be justifiable.
