Overview

We are looking for an experienced statutory accounting and reporting professional with extensive experience in the preparation and management of a portfolio of statutory financial statements in the United Kingdom and Ireland. As a highly technical, senior role in the team reporting directly to the UK Head of Accounting, you will be required to be an accounting topic expert in all areas of accounting. You would be expected to be able to provide guidance on all International Financial Reporting Standards and also UK GAAP. You will be required to collaborate with our extensive network of finance teams in the United Kingdom and Ireland, Western Europe and Africa (WEA) and our parent company in Germany. You will be responsible for overseeing and managing the UK annual statutory accounts process, including preparation of the proforma accounts, liaison with auditors, managing the statutory accounting system and coaching and training other statutory accounts preparers. You will be expected to be able to prepare statutory accounts as and when needed. Your responsibility will include providing a true and fair view in the statutory accounts on our business performance, assets and liabilities, common key performance indicators and you will be guided by our Siemens Financial Reporting Guidelines. You will experience how to deploy accounting standards in a variety of Siemens business cases and its related processes. The role will be embedded in a team of accounting and reporting professionals that are tasked to provide assurance on the quality of books and records of different Siemens entities in the UK. You will also be involved in M&A and shareholder controlling topics. You will drive efficiency and leverage our knowledge resources for steady productivity improvements in accounting, reporting and controlling. What will you achieve? A true and fair view for the annual statutory accounts of Siemens entities in GB&I; Management of the annual external statutory audits of Siemens entities in GB&I; Governance and expertise for all accounting topics in relation to single entity statutory accounts for GB&I; Close liaison with the Western Europe and Africa region and our German parent company technical accounting teams; Further improve year-end statutory accounting procedures; Provide the shareholders and the board of directors in GB&I with an overview of the key numbers and areas of risks. Take a lead role in the finance team in UK M&A projects and other shareholder controlling topics, such as integrations, carve outs, acquisitions, disposals, liquidations, strike offs, dividends, and capital transactions by providing accounting expertise in these areas. Attend board meetings to present on key accounting topics as and when required. Support the UK accounting team with technical accounting advice as and when required. Responsible for all areas of local statutory reporting, you would also be expected to manage governmental, statistical reporting requirements. Responsible for any internal controls over statutory accounting and reporting. How will you do it? Support the UK Head of Accounting in all technical areas of accounting. Rapidly build a high level of acceptance as the key expert on statutory accounting topics in GB&I. Ensure that our timing and procedures are aligned with senior management reporting duties. You will work closely with our external auditor to ensure that statutory financials statements are prepared and delivered according to their standards and expectations and aligned harmoniously. You will be the main contact for statutory accounting and M&A accounting topics and be able to train and develop young accounting and reporting professionals. Main control requirement contact for any statutory accounting and reporting internal financial controls. Maintain an up to date knowledge and understanding on IFRS requirements. Work closely with other IFRS expert teams and partners and the senior management team of the Siemens entities including the relevant information providers. Work closely with the UK M&A project management team to provide accounting advice and manage the finance workstream. Develop constructive relations with the accounting, reporting and controlling teams in the United Kingdom and Ireland as well as Western Europe and Africa and Germany including regional and in country management and subject matter experts. Foster the IFRS in-country expertise and community. Using new tools, you will establish best practices and reporting methods based on a high level of automation. What do you need to succeed? A clear view of what best in class statutory accounts look like. You will have extensive experience in delivering and managing statutory financial statements and process. Expert knowledge of IFRS, UK GAAP and ICFR requirements. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Experience of delivering projects to completion. Be able to work on your own initiative or together with others. Be comfortable working with senior executives in the Siemens entities and with other Siemens departments. Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA) with post qualification experience preferably within a large, complex, multi-divisional entity. Experience using statutory accounting packages is essential. Experience of working with K-trinity is desirable. Experience of working with external auditors is essential. External audit experience is desirable. Understanding of M&A and shareholder controlling topics with a strong GB&I tax and legal knowledge is essential.
