Overview

We are looking to recruit a Senior Engineer to join our Electronics team. We are looking for a very experienced engineer to take the lead on our electronic systems integration and test activity. Additionally, you will be responsible for the ongoing development of our digital control cards, and central control unit including assisting our systems engineering lead in the definition and implementation of the next generation digital control platform. The right candidate will fulfil and be able to clearly demonstrate the following criteria; Must be able to demonstrate a strong track record of success in leading electronics systems integration and test activity, understanding expected system behaviours, developing integration test plans, conducting tests, and where necessary localising faults to individual boards. It is critically important that candidates have the necessary knowledge and capability in electronics design to allow them to successfully analyse electronic circuit designs, plan and conduct tests to diagnose faults down to component level. Experience of testing and fault finding on CAN bus based distributed systems. A highly organised, structured approach to problem solving. The capability to design and develop digital control boards, incorporating microcontroller and FPGA technologies. Design capability should include development of analogue circuits for filtering, signal conditioning and measurement, and development of low voltage SMPS converter designs. Ideally experienced practitioners of Six Sigma. Green belt qualification would be preferable but not essential. Bank Holidays Additional Information The working hours for this role are 8.30am - 5.00pm, Monday to Friday. Candidates will be expected to give examples of relevant designs they have created and successfully launched into production. The interview process will involve a pre prepared presentation by each candidate on a design problem we will give you, plus several skills-based questions to discuss during the interview. Essential Skills Skills and Experience; Degree level qualification in Electrical & Electronic Engineering. Highly experienced in design and development of microprocessor-based control units, employing a mix of small signal analog and power electronics, to include low power BLDC motor drivers and DC/DC converters. Experienced user of simulation packages such as LTSpice, TINA, or equivalent, for design analysis and design proving. Demonstrable experience in electronics system integration testing, and fault finding, in systems comprising multiple electronic modules interconnected by CAN networks. Experience in development and test of systems incorporating medium to high power DC/DC converters would be advantageous, but not essential. Ability to diagnose defective modules, then to fault-find down to component level. Experience of schematic capture and PCB layout in Altium Designer toolsuite. Preferably (but not essentially) having worked in design and development of power electronics modules and systems, including DC/DC Converters, BLDC motor drivers, etc. Preferably trained & experienced in testing of high voltage (400V DC) & high power (12kW) systems.
