Overview
Purpose of the Post FACT’s mission is to enrich lives and shape the future through Film, Art and Creative Technology. You are joining FACT at an exciting time in the organisation’s development. The Head of Development will work closely with the CEO/Director, who joined the organisation in May 2019, and the new leadership team to identify, develop and implement opportunities for income generation in line with FACT’s Business Plan. This role will be particularly focused on diversifying and growing income to help strengthen FACT’s business model, coordinating our upcoming Band 3 Arts Council England National Portfolio application, and leading on our capital fundraising campaign. The role will also be key in managing stakeholders including: local government, public funding distributors, trusts and foundations, EU funding, corporates and other strategic relationships. The Head of Development will lead the Senior Management Team in the coordination and management of all bid writing and fundraising across the organisation, and take a lead role in the development, implementation and management of initiatives to maximise both contributed and earned income. About You You are passionate about art and creative technology, about FACT, and about the growth of Liverpool City Region’s cultural and creative sector. You feel confident representing a diverse and complex organisation to a variety of stakeholders, and creating bespoke cases for support for each audience. You are an experienced fundraiser, with a successful track record of helping charitable and non- profit arts organisations to attract and grow income and funding from a wide range of public, voluntary and private sector sources. You are entrepreneurial, ambitious but practical in your approach to fundraising and income generation and appreciate the balance of skills and requirements that this discipline requires. You are a proactive networker and collaborator with extensive networks and strong relationships with public bodies, trusts and foundations, businesses and philanthropists. You are a strong leader, an effective manager and a powerful communicator - able to identify and build effective relationships across all stakeholder groups and at all levels of seniority. Key Responsibilities Leading and managing all fundraising activity across the organisation, ensuring that colleagues are alerted to relevant opportunities in their business areas and working with them to develop and curate effective relationships with funders, donors, partners and clients in a proactive and methodical manner. Leading in planning and delivering new fundraising and income generating events and projects, including time-bound campaigns and new creative initiatives to grow income sustainably and ensure that the organisation adheres to internal and external bid-writing, application, tendering, monitoring and reporting timeframes and processes. Supporting colleagues in drafting correspondence and documentation, such as reports, briefings, applications, tenders, presentations or other communication items to support development activity. Designing and implementing systems to identify and assess relevant opportunities. Be responsible for monitoring business KPIs, and reporting our performance to Arts Council England and Liverpool City Council. Developing and managing effective policies and procedures in line with best practice in the sector. Ensuring income generation activity is produced, filed and archived in a systematic and efficient way, for all research, bids, tenders, contracts, reports and other records relating to fundraising. Managing the Development Team and overseeing the procurement and management of external personnel, enabling a flexible, scalable operation, ensuring all contracted activity is fit-for-purpose.
