Overview

Vacancy: Warehouse Operative / Driver Reporting To: Production Manager taking daily instructions from the Packing & Despatch Team Leader. Essential Qualifications & Skills: Maths & English GCSE C grade/ O level or equivalent. Previous experience of working in a practical general/factory assistant environment including car cleaning, production support and general tidying. Counterbalance forklift licence. Happy with and suited to working both indoors & outdoors in most weather in a practical, hands-on role. Must have a current FULL MANUAL driving licence (not provisional). Must speak clear fluent English. The role is of a physical nature and flexibility, reliability and a professional attitude will be required Advantageous Qualifications & Skills: Previous experience of working in a garden maintenance / gardening role; or a keen interest in gardening (as a hobby for example). Previous experience/use of: stacker truck, lifting equipment. Training You will be given induction training so that you see all the functions of our production environment that is relevant to your role as General Factory Assistant. You will be trained on how to use all equipment required for your role. Responsibilities & Duties Car Cleaning / Valeting: Responsible for cleaning / valeting the Company vehicles to a high standard (this would be required on a weekly basis as a minimum). Using the appropriate cleaning equipment and materials. Maintain a clean and tidy stock of all cleaning equipment and materials; requesting further stock when required from the Packing & Despatch Team Leader. Driving a range of Company vans and cars: This could involve, for example: Collection and delivery of various parts. General driving support. Cash & Carry visits. Key cutting requests Packing Maintenance: Ensure all old pallets are transferred to the designated areas in a timely manner. Responsible for compacting all recycled cartons, preparing for collection. Cleaning: Cleaning and maintaining all areas of Production/Office as and when requested. This could involve, for example: Use of our driven Karcher sweeper for the car park, Packing and Goods In areas. Patio / car park cleaning using the Pressure Washer. Vacuuming & cleaning areas indoors. Assembly Line Maintenance: Supporting Production needs to ensure all assembly lines are running to their full potential. This could involve, for example: Assembly of flow tube benches for new/existing production lines. Movement of benches / equipment. Stock Movement: Driving the counter-balance forklift, stacker and pallet trucks. Un-loading and loading of lorries and putting stock away. Stock Control: Counting stock items and identification of parts. Garden Maintenance: Garden maintenance throughout the car park. This would only involve light gardening tasks to begin with (e.g. weeding / pruning / leaf clearing). General: Emptying waste bins in the Production areas as and when required. Any other tasks as reasonable requested. Tools & Clothing All necessary tools and safety equipment are provided. uniform provided – including safety shoes. Remuneration package Competitive basic annual salary for 39.5 hrs per week Hours of work: Monday - Thursday: 08:00 – 17:15 Friday: 08:00 – 12:30 O/T at 1.5 basic hourly rate (over 39.5 basic hrs per week) Overtime, when required, is worked Friday afternoons, earlier starts/later finishes.Occasional weekend work may be required.
