Role: Data Scientist Reporting to: Portfolio Manager Location: Crawley, UK Department/Practice: Application Development Job Purpose and primary objectives: Design, deploy and oversee the key algorithms and models that will drive optimal decision within Operational Decision Support through domain, statistical and data expertise, use of relevant technologies and efficient automation processes. Key responsibilities Need to work as part of the Agile project team:- Interpreting business logic and identify KPI Provide insight to the business through the creation and delivery of detailed and repeatable interactive analytical tools and deployable models Design, deployment and continuous improvement of approaches to determine trading metrics, incrementality measurement, forward projection and entity valuation/scoring Identify appropriate models given data of variable quality, size and completeness to enable effective decision by Operation Decision Support Provide key insight and analysis for Leadership Team, along with advice on new avenues of investigation - Supervisory / Managerial responsibilities Should be in a position to review the code written by other team mates and share the review comments in a constructive manner - Other responsibilities – Budgets, targets, equipment etc Key Skills/Knowledge: · Possess good knowledge in performance tuning while handling large data sets using Python · Python programming – server side & client side · Optimization tools – Gurobe/CPLEX · Exceptional analytical skills · Understanding of airline economics · Strong attention to detail · Ability to use organisational skills to prioritise and multi-task · Ability to interpret, analyse, manipulate and present significant volumes of data · Ability to work accurately in a fast paced environment · Creative problem solver · Accountability and ownership of area of responsibility · Excellent interpersonal and communication skills at all levels · Collaborative team player at peer level Experience required: · Proven experience in statistics, economics, aviation or business · Experience of utilizing cloud infrastructure and optimization of computing resources to accomplish high volume data related tasks · Master-level: Mathematics, Operational Research, or similar Relevant experience in statistics, computer science required, with additional experience in aviation or business beneficial · Advanced knowledge and practical application of Excel, at least one of R, Python or SQL scripting essential · Exceptional, previously applied numerical skills · Proven experience in communicating complex messages to various audiences · Demonstrated experience in delivering analysis to a high standard and working to deadlines in a fast paced, dynamic environment Number of persons required: 1 Special working conditions (travel, on call etc): To work locally from Crawley office location Person Specification: I.e. Negotiating, client facing, communication, assertive, team leading/team member skills, supportive. This is a customer facing role in a strategic project which involves multiple vendors. The project is executed in Agile methodology with a direct interaction with the business owners.
