The day job We’re looking for an experienced Buyer to join the team reporting to our Senior Procurement Manager for Public Services and will form an integral part of the overall Sopra Steria Procurement Team. In this role you will provide procurement support in a Business Partnering capacity, to Sopra Steria’s client aligned Sectors and with the support of the Procurement management, you will support the Sectors in managing their ongoing supplier requirements, in terms of new supplier development and set up, supplier commercial and contractual negotiation, cost improvement optimisation and savings and more. Key Responsibilities: Working with, managing and developing existing and new suppliers including commercial & contractual negotiations Ensure timely review, processing and approval of purchase requests from the business and challenging the business as appropriate Work alongside the aligned business Sectors and stakeholders to ensure that good procurement practice is followed Use of eSourcing tools and processes where appropriate Use of data to monitor suppliers and spend in order to develop & implement approaches to re-negotiation, consolidation and savings identification. Provide input to the business on supplier and procurement risk through all stages of the supplier engagement Investigate any new and alternative sources of supply & third party technology in the marketplace. Working with other Sopra Steria support functions such as Commercial and Legal to drive positive supplier outcomes Knowledge, skills & experience required: Ideally MCIPS Diploma qualified or equivalent or desire to study for MCIPS Diploma Experience of working in a large and complex organisation Experience of dealing with negotiations on pricing and contract terms Working knowledge of contracts, contract language and contracting processes Good working knowledge of procurement process and practices, including, scoping, tendering, evaluation, selection and contract negotiation Able to demonstrate good commercial awareness Experience of developing positive stakeholder relationships Must be an good verbal and written communicator, who presents the Procurement team in a collaborative, professional and credible manner Reasons why you should apply to us We’re big - really big.
