Overview
R&D Engineer - Mechanical Engineer Your new company A major player at the forefront of next generation DNA sequencing and constantly innovating with headquarters located in London. Your new role As a mechanical engineer, you will be responsible for innovating and improving hardware for commercial diagnostic devices involved in NGS as part of a multi-disciplinary team. This will be carried out whilst constantly collaborating with a variety of scientists and engineers to optimise effectiveness and efficiency. Your role will also require you to overcome hardware issues and be able to rapidly prototype using an array of modern techniques and equipment. What you'll need to succeed You will need excellent communication skills with good scientific knowledge and a background in mechanical engineering. Creativity is key with a focus on being able to solve complex problems in a dynamic and evolving environment. Excellent knowledge of fluid dynamics and system mechanics is fundamental whist also being able to grasp technical areas such as microfluidics and pneumatics. It would also be desirable for you to have an understanding of programming languages such as Python.
