Bid Cost Engineer; Location: Crawley; 2-month Contract; £302.98 payee per day. We are currently recruiting for a Bid Cost Engineer, to be based at our clients site in Crawley. The purpose of the role is to: On behalf of the business and in support of Corporate Governance, ensure the integrity of estimating, costing and financial modelling of bids and projects as appropriate Work in association with other functions to provide an effective estimating and costing service Undertaking cost modelling of business opportunities. Key Responsibilities and Tasks: Responsible for coordination, creation, review and presentation of Estimating, Costing & Pricing information to inform the Manage Bid & Manage Project Processes Prepare and present estimating and financial data at Gates, Estimate Review and CCRs Modelling of estimated costs, overheads, funding, cashflow, margin, profitability Support the continuing development and implementation of effective estimating and costing processes, methodologies and tools The job holder will be expected to work out of normal office hours, often at short notice, when required. Requirement to travel within the UK to work as required, possibly at short notice. Key performance Indicators against Responsibilities and Tasks (professional only): Undertake a self-assessment of competency, experience and knowledge against activities listed within the Bid Finance Competency Framework. Identify strengths, weaknesses and prepare a personal training needs analysis. (within one month) Become familiar with all estimating, costing and Bid Finance related processes and procedures within Chorus 2. Become fully conversant with current estimating, costing and financial models and be able to demonstrate practical application. Review self-assessment of competency, experience and knowledge against Bid Finance activities listed within the Bid Finance Competency Framework Skills Essential- Proven experience and understanding of: - Large business and processes Finance and performance metrics Risk and opportunity analysis and modelling Strong commercial and financial awareness Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel Effective communicator, able to articulate ideas and deliver information in a clear and persuasive manner Ability to self-manage Excellent organisation skills, delivering to agreed timescales with attention to detail Must be a car driver with a current licence. Desirable Conversant in use of recognised project control methodologies and tools, e.g. Primavera, Pertmaster Estimating Estimating Management Forecasting of resource requirements Ability to multi-task and prioritise work requirements. Experience: Essential Strong engineering or operations background Previous cost engineering/ estimating experience gained in an aerospace environment Excellent inter-personnel, communication and customer focused skills essential Ability to spot problems and adopt sensible, effective, straight forward solutions Ability to think and act ahead, takes a proactive approach and is self-motivated Experience of working within a bidding environment Preparedness to undertake staff coaching as appropriate. Desirable Open, positive attitude to new ideas, practices & methods Ability to build and maintain productive relationships across all stakeholders Experience of working within Project Management or Project Controls environment Good understanding of the Industry.
