Overview

UNDERWRITING MANAGER - NOTTINGHAM - c£40,000 We are seeking an ambitious, dedicated and detailed Underwriting Manager to lead, nurture, develop and guide a team of underwriting professionals. Underwrite, manage, and sell products offered by binding and brokerage carriers with emphasis on writing new business to achieve business goals. Your Role: Handle the divisional account to ensure the company objectives are met, work with the management team to develop the Divisional plan and achieve financial income and loss ratio objectives Work collaboratively with other parts of the organisation, especially the claims and survey teams, when required. Feedback technical and commercial market intelligence to your leadership team whilst growing your personal knowledge base. Undertake referral cases above the authority levels of underwriters within the job holder's control. Ensure that Company underwriting philosophies and procedures are understood and are in accordance to agreed service standards. Report complaints effectively in line with the companies complaints procedure as outlined by the Professional Standards Manual Control the flow of work to achieve service standards whilst delivering a structured audit procedure. Lead, motivate and develop the underwriting staff, coordinate and deliver technical advice and upskilling. Qualifications Your Skills, Experience and Qualifications: Chartered Insurance Institute qualification desirable as is being educated to degree standard or equivalent. Strong knowledge of Commercial and Property Insurance products With a strong knowledge of when and what specialist information is needed to underwrite complex risks (e.g. surveyor or engineer reports) Full grasp of underwriting tools, comfortable providing expert advice, used to inform the decision making process Robust knowledge of general insurance and underlying legal principles, underwriting principles and rating methods. Proficient in systems technology required to transact business with a consistent record for planning and prioritising business goals, meeting financial management objectives Outstanding communication and collaboration skills, meeting common goals with colleagues across matrix environments Confidently builds, grows and sustains a key relationship network Excellent planning and analytical skills, strong interpersonal and management skills; comfortable and credible at decision-maker level. Persistent and tenacious in achieving results, ambitious and motivates others to achieve Proactive in risk management whilst committed to learning and developing industry knowledge pursuing standards in excellence Ref 7540 MW Appointments is acting as an Employment Agency in relation to this vacancy.
