We have an exciting opportunity with a leading care specialist who are looking for a Dementia Lead to join their service in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire. The service specialises in supporting the elderly and individuals with dementia and Alzheimer’s so experience within this client group is essential. The ideal candidate will have supervisory experience of overseeing staff teams and ideally have an NVQ / QCF Level 3 in Health and Social Care. Responsibilities of a Dementia Lead: Working with the care team, you will be passionate about supporting people living with dementia and leading the way in good quality care. Monitoring staff interactions and wellbeing of people living within the home. Coaching the team around Dementia Care, best practice and making each interaction a personal one. Creating the theme of the day (this is crucial to helping to trigger memories). Supporting team leaders to develop and implement person centered care plans. Co-ordinating with other professionals to achieve positive outcomes for people living in the home. Being a champion of choice - encouraging people in the home to make their own decisions. Inspiring families and visitors to get involved in the running of the home. Showing prospective residents and families around the home. Organising a warm reception for all new residents. Working with all people living and working in the home to develop and maintain their social program. Monitoring personal care requirements. Supervising and participating in the mealtime experience. Responding to staff feedback and finding solutions for any potential problem areas. Overseeing documentation, supporting and guiding the team around record keeping. Providing supervisory and support for staff, placing teams appropriately and ensuring a high level of care is provided to residents on a permanent basis. Attending training sessions in order to extend personal knowledge in relation to dementia care and best practice. Requirements of a Dementia Lead: Fun and enthusiastic Listening and responsive skills Positive attitude to problem solving Organised, systematic and pro-active Able to lead by example Able to delegate and to give clear instructions Calm under stress Approachable & empathetic Spontaneous Able to use imagination to inspire others A minimum of 1-year experience in a care setting as a Senior Care Assistant /Dementia Lead or similar role is essential.
