11 hours over 2 weeks Work pattern: Week 1: Saturday 9:30am - 1:30pm Week 2: Sat 9.30am – 1.30pm and Sunday 9.30am – 12.30pm We are looking for two Personal Assistants to support an elderly gentleman with learning disabilities who lives on his own in a flat in the Fishponds/Hillfields area of Bristol. My favourite animals are elephants and I have lovely elephant wallpaper in my flat and lots of elephant ornaments” Role, Required Education, Skills and Qualifications THE ROLE: Staff need to prompt with medication (Medication training will be given). The service user is diabetic and walks with a frame (no wheelchair or lifting). D requires support with showering, eye drops and foot care. Also, support in the community – e.g. Banking, shopping, visiting friends and day trips, etc. You will also support him to make healthy meals and occasionally eating out. Contracted hours total 16 hours per week, to be divided between two staff members – 8 hours per post. Please enquire to discuss your availability. Car owner/drivers preferred. Mileage would be payable whilst supporting him. YOU: The successful Personal Assistant will: Have strong communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with team members, service users and a range of stakeholders. Have a caring manner and a tolerant nature, experience within the sector is not essential as we will provide you with training required to carry out your duties. Must be medication competent, or agree to doing competency assessment (training will be given) Be able to work in a very person-centred manner.
