34 hours per week or 2x posts 17 hours per week – will involve sleep-ins and weekend work Could you support a woman in her eighties with learning disabilities to get the most out of later life? An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Personal Assistant to join Milestones Trust. We are a not-for-profit charitable organisation with a 34 year history of offering person-centred support to vulnerable people with learning disabilities, mental health needs and dementia. WHY APPLY? Working 1:1 with this woman in her own home, we offer companionship and support with all areas of her life. The service provides 24 hour 1:1 support with sleep-ins, following the woman’s person centred plans to support her to achieve her goals in a way that makes sense to her. Role, Required Education, Skills and Qualifications THE ROLE: As a Personal Assistant you will support this lady in all areas of life, including accessing the community for shopping and any of her chosen activities, daily living skills and managing her home and tenancy, looking after her finances, and personal care in the morning and evening which involves manual handling using a hoist. Female Staff Only – This post fulfils the requirements of a Genuine Occupational Qualification and is therefore exempt under the Equality and Diversity Act 2010 YOU: We are looking for people who are calm, compassionate and willing to take the time to build a positive relationship with this woman to support her to continue to maximise her independence. You will need to be creative, empathetic, personable but professional, supportive, and an effective communicator.
