Overview
Our client is one of London’s leading landscape contractors, offers a complete garden service, managing the whole garden construction from the designer’s initial concept plan to the completion of the fully planted and landscaped garden. Once created, the company’s maintenance division expertly maintains the prestigious gardens to ensure they always look their best. We require a highly self-motivated person with good horticultural knowledge who is capable of working on their own initiative and in collaboration with the Maintenance Manager and management at the office, to maintain top-end gardens. This is a hands-on role, with the aid of one assistant. The role involves driving from site to site and applicants must therefore have a full, clean driving licence. Skills required: Good horticultural knowledge Knowledge of irrigation systems and water features Ability to deal with clients professionally and diplomatically Ability to act pro-actively in ensuring all gardens stay well maintained Confident driving skills, ideally with experience driving in London People management Experience: Proven maintenance record of high-quality gardens Proven soft landscaping record Track record of running a team and liaising with clients and managers Driving/parking – particularly in London Main duties: Overseeing and carrying out general garden maintenance, including mowing, pruning and mulching Preparing areas ready for planting Receiving and placing plant stock Tree and shrub planting Careful monitoring of watering and irrigation systems Encouraging the development of new plants Keeping accurate records of daily works and corresponding costs Instructing other staff Following set procedures on Health and Safety, working practices and reporting all issues to do with the well-being of the client’s gardens To keep site diary and monitor staff to ensure correct admin, personnel and H&S procedures are being followed
