Transport Planner Perpetual Partnerships are a recruitment consultancy based in Knutsford, Cheshire. We have a significant track record of supporting the key goals of organisations within Supply Chain, Logistics and Procurement sectors. Overview Perpetual have a partnership with a Logistics client that has asked us specifically to improve the transport planning function by bringing in a Transport Planner into their business. This a key role to ensure that drivers and vehicle productivity are maximised through efficient route planning, resource management via good communication methodology. The role reports directly into the Transport Manager Working shift pattern: Mon to Friday Hours: 08:30am to 17:00pm As an accomplished transport planner, you will be tasked with the following responsibilities on daily basis: Planning routes that promote operational efficiency and building in appropriate contingency plans in any eventuality that occurs Managing and maintaining driver/vehicle rotas (Holidays/Sickness/Servicing/VOR’s) Prioritising workload and cancelling jobs depending on business needs and managing the subsequent communications following these decisions Liaise with customers/drivers/ and sub-contractors on a daily basis Provide driver support / collate and submit driver timesheets to payroll and support HR with any driver absenteeism to management & HR Taking ownership of all logistical issues i.e. Incidents, load rejections, access issues Provide ETA’s when requested and keep a record of all POD’s Ensure strong working relationships with all level stakeholders Apply analytical approaches alongside ability to challenge colleagues to enable best business outcomes. Updating of spreadsheets, data inputting and reporting Continually identify opportunities to implement industry best practise Apply a strong commercial awareness Provide holiday cover for the transport planning team Candidate background A strong, consistent background in transport & logistics Team Player Proven and strong knowledge of route planning Effective communicator at all levels with excellent customer service levels Good working knowledge of MS Office (Outlook/Word & excel) Good written, numerical and verbal communications skills Good attention to detail and able to adapt to changes Ability to work in a fast-paced pressurised environment
