Job title: Project Quality and Safety ManagerType: PermanentLocation: Derby Salary: Competitive company benefits My Client, a Tier 1 Global Contractor within the Rail industry who specialise in Signalling is currently recruiting for a Project Quality and Safety Manager to be based out of their York or Derby office due to recently securing a large framework project in the Eastern Region.Role Working across multiple projects within our Systems, Signalling and Infrastructure (SS&I) business, this role will be based in Derby or York. This role will involve frequent travel across the United Kingdom to support our project delivery teams, reporting directly to the Head of Quality for SS&I and functionally to the relevant Project Manager. This role will include documenting planned quality activities in a Project Quality Plan which meets both customer, regulatory and business requirements, and ensuring these activities are executed as planned. Furthermore you will be a key part of the team and act as a change agent for the deployment and continual improvement of the businesses global processes across all business functions, influencing and coaching peers and senior managers in the new ways of working. Responsibilities Support the project manager in the readiness, whilst independently assessing compliance to project controls as part of their project gate review processCarry out an assessment of project safety assurance activities through safety reviews and production of a safety authorisation prior to customer handoverInspect project processes for compliance to global standards and manage non-conformities to closureMeasure and improve project quality performancePerform activities relating to industrial quality, supplier quality and internal audit as required.Requirements a member of the Chartered Quality Institute (CQI)minimum 3 years experience in a Quality assurance rolean engineering background (mechanical, electrical or civil)Self-starter and the ability to work solo.Working knowledge of the railway infrastructure and associated processes.Experience associated with other safety critical engineering industries may be considered for exemplary candidatesExcellent communication skills, and able to influence at all levels of an organisation.Computer literate, competent in the use of Microsoft Office, and able to learn new systems and database applications in support of their role.Self-starter and the ability to work solo.
