Overview

Our expanding Asset Management Group are seeking individuals to develop and grow the Geospatial Engineering business within AECOM working on exciting projects across various infrastructure sectors. Geospatial Engineering is made up of the Geomatics, UAV and Instrumentation & Monitoring team supported by BIM/CAD management, specializing in delivery of an integrated measurement service that provides precise surveying, mapping and monitoring of assets. The Geospatial Technician will work closely within their local team, reporting to their Regional Manager, and you will be involved in a variety of survey and mapping activities using the latest innovations in survey technology. You will be assisting colleagues in delivering intelligent data to our project teams and clients for digital design and construction. As a developing technician you will learn to provide strong technical knowledge across the geospatial discipline by developing multi-disciplinary abilities, and a pathway for progression within the team. It is expected that in time you will be able to take full responsibility for planning and execution of packages of work with minimum supervision. The role shall be site-based within the AECOM Ashford/Swindon/Nottingham/Glasgow or Manchester offices. Responsibilities:•You will support survey teams in the field to carry out rail, UAV, asset monitoring, laser scanning and topographic surveys•Learn and develop new technical skills working with UAVs, GNSS, scanners and other geomatic survey equipment • You will assist and process geospatial datasets that could include aerial imagery, asset monitoring data, topographical survey or point cloud data, in the office to a final deliverable standard•Be actively involved in project delivery and ensure that a high level of quality is delivered to clients.•You will promote and maintain a safe working environment for all staff Capabilities:A willingness to travel to site, occasionally staying away as fieldwork will be required throughout the United Kingdom A flexible attitude to work, which will include some night shifts and weekend working An individual that can show initiative and work collaborativelyGood communicator with keen listening/questioning skills, and a good team player with excellent all-round organisational skillsCommitted to working towards RICS/CICES membership Minimum Requirements : Skills & Experience: Some knowledge of technical aspects of Geomatics, UAVs or Monitoring would be advantageous, this may include some of the following:•Railway and Topographic Surveying• Demonstrable experience of UAVs, Geomatics, investigating and/or monitoring civils assets e.g. structures, earthworks•GNSS processing and network adjustments•Laser Scanning and data delivery•Mobile mapping and processing data•UAVs Operations & Pilots•Software: StarNet Least squares, Survey Processing Software, Bentley and Autocad products, Cyclone, GeoMOS, Geo office/Infinity, Trimble Business Centre and Real Works Preferred Qualifications : Preferred Qualifications: •Minimum HND or HNC qualification in a relevant or related discipline•Full Clean UK driving LicenceYour benefits will include: Helping our employees achieve a healthy work-life balance is important to us.
