Overview

We are currently looking for a Senior Rail Civil Design or Rail Civil Design Engineer to work for a leading contractor within the Glasgow area in their consultancy service working on lineside Civil and ancillary structures. You will be predominantly working on Network Rail and TransLink Northern Ireland projects being responsible for leading and directing the civil design activity to supplement rail signaling and level crossing projects, which includes allocating design resources in the delivery of conceptual and detailed civil design. You will have the opportunity to work throughout the project lifecycle seeing your design through to construction stage in which the schemes are typically valued between 50k to 200k in which you may undertake project management duties ensuring the design are to budget and programme. As you will be working for a major contractor you will have the opportunity to go out on site and ensure you Designs are buildable, which will beneficial when undertaking your Chartership attributes. Within the role you will be responsible for the rail civil design and design checking of schemes for new work and alterations to existing work in which you will also provide design costings as required and act in the role of design mentor as required. Within the position you will carry out rail Civil and ancillary structures designs and checks for Engineering schemes ensuring full compliance with current British and/or Eurocode and working to the relevant Rail standards. If you have transferable skill in a different industry such as working on Highway Structures (gantries, sign basis, retaining walls, portal frames etc) then this would also be considered. Job Requirements Computer literate and experienced in design software; knowledge of AutoCAD, TEDDS, Pframe / Superstress or similar.Minimum 5 years experience working within a Civil or Ancillary Structural Design environment. (if going for the Senior Design Engineering position. If a Design Engineer a minimum of 3 years experience with demonstrable examples of being able to work self-sufficiently)Ideally design experience on Rail Civil Engineering, or Rail Structural Engineering schemes. However, if you have transferable skill in a different industry such as working on Highway Structures (gantries, sign basis, retaining walls, portal frames etc) then this would also be considered.
